rometw_1.2_patch.exe help needed

Hi

I am having trouble installing the above patch. After installing the game won't start and I get a message titled "Cannot locate the correcte DVD-ROM", it asks me to "Please inster teh correct DVD-ROM,etc". I have Rome Total War - Gold Edition". I have noticed I get an extra entry in "Control Panel, Add / Delete Programmes" for "Rome Total War" as well as the one I think I should have which is "Rome Total War - Gold Edition". Can anyone help?

I would love to get this working as then I can install RTR!

Well you can play RTR on RTW Gold Edition so it stops all the patchs problems

I got the same annoying problem, and I havent got the platinum/god editrion. What do I do?

Rome Total War Gold is already patched to 1.5, so unless you find a way to go backwards, you have to play RTR Platinum which is a "ported" version of RTR Gold that fixed the RTW 1.2 and RTR Gold bugs.

You need to go the the Major Hosted Mods section here is TWC and scroll down till you find the RTR section and there you will find the RTR Platinum Edition to download for RTW 1.5.

I think you misunderstood me (?) - I just have the normal old Rome edition from 2 years back, and wanted to install the patch - and then afterwards the game becomes impossible to play bc it says the right ca must be inserted..

Well thanks guys. I can now play RTR which is just excellent. But unfortunately I can't save any games. The message is something like 'unable to save file'.

btw - I checked the 'save' directory and it has 'read only' set, and, no matter what I do, I can't get it to not be read only.

help!

Panama Red 51 - I followed the link but don't understand what to do. Just to be clear - I have RTW Gold Edition and I installed RTR Platinum 1.5 on it.

PS My son is now giving me grief and wants to get back to plain old RTW where he can save his games. Me tho, I want RTR!

Then I would ignore the link I gave you because RTR Platinum (using RTW 1.5) is far better than RTR Gold (using RTW 1.2).

It sounds like you need to go to the TWC Major Hosted Mod section and there you will find the RTR section with RTR Platinum subsection and ask your technical question there about why it will not save.

if your trying to use rtr platnium did you first install 1.4 then 1.5 and then update it to 1.6?

but that means you wont be able to play mods like eb and rtr.

Not true, if you have RTW 1.5, you can not play EB which is RTW 1.2 anyway. Since RTR Platinum is RTW 1.5, Overgaard1982 is perfectly okay with his solution and will be able to play ALL RTW 1.5 mods now and in the future too.
