Default The pious man who doesn't beleive in the gods

I'd post pics but my home computer has not had internet for 2 weeks and I don't know how long till it will be fix.

Point is I have a general with the trait "pious" (he respects priests and all they stand for) yet he has despises the gods (he thinks the gods are a hollow sham +4 unrest). These seem like anti traits yet he has them. Is this something that no one noticed/on the list of things to be fixed? If not can someone explain to me how this is possible.

Well, the idea isn't too hard to grasp. For example, someone can personally believe that there are no gods, yet still respect that others believe that there are gods. So this general respects priests and their beliefs ... he just believes that they're wrong. At least, that's my take on the apparent contradiction.
I beat back their first attack with ease. Properly employed, E's can be very deadly, deadlier even than P's and Z's, though they're not as lethal as Paula Abdul or Right Said Fred.

Or, more cynically - religion is a useful tool for manipulating the commoners into doing what you want willingly, and priests are the tool-users the ruling class employ to do this. An attitude practiced by Iranian and other Middle Eastern leaders to this day.

Also, disaffected priests have the power to forment rebellion, so it's best to humour them with your piety, be respectful to them, and most importantly, grease their palms with enough silver to keep them in a comfortable lifestyle.
