    Default rome total war spartan faction..

    Is their ANY mod in existence that just takes regular vanilla rome and adds sparta as a faction? Like seriously that would be so kick-ass and it seems like something that would have been created YEARS ago.. But I can't find anything like it anywhere. A half decent modder could prolly make it in a day. WHYYY hasn't this been done to my knowledge?

    Because in order to keep vanilla, three romans, all other factions you can't do it. The game has a 21 faction limit and it is completely used up with vanilla ones.

    Of course, but making rome one faction or bumping off one of the more unrealistic ones like britain makes way for it. A vanilla mod with a united rome and sparta would bad to the ****ing ass IMO. And I'm sure with a little rebalancing would be pretty popular. Id totally do that **** if i was even half decent at moding.

    Rome is the easiest game to mod of all the Tptal War games. Fairly easy to do if you just take time (maybe need a few days) to learn.

    In any case RTR VII do have Spartan faction playable.

    Uhh, uniting rome and making Sparta would take time, trial and error, and some self teaching. If you want to try I can hook you up with most of the links required.

    I would like to point out that the Greek States are in fact Sparta? So renaming the Greek States to Sparta solves the problem. You could change every former Greek City to rebels, with the exception of Sparta and tadaaah!

    Nah their capitals just sparta. I'm okay at modding vanilla but I haven't made new factions yet. I might actually get around to it though. Give the greek states Athens as their capital and remove spartan hoplites from their roster tree and make sparta a single city faction.

    Well, play Roma Surrectum 2. You won't regret, I think it's better than vanilla and it has a very nice Spartan campaign.

    There is also Sparta: Total War that was built as a mod if my memory serves me correct.

    I tell you what the problem is here;

    First we need to ask a question to ourselves;

    What is to be expected from a mod, taking vanilla rome and adds Sparta as a faction - only?

    - A mod made by a guy who was watching 300 and found it to be a good idea to roll up the campaign
    of rtw with overpowered spartan hoplites by doing nothing else than to let the enemy run into the
    front of his phalanx and to die.

    Now as you say; a half decent modder could prolly make it in a day
    i have to say; every single half decent modder will reach a point during his learning process
    where he realizes: he won't do such a sterotype mod but something better more worth of being released to the public.

    As already been mentioned in a few posts above - there are already mods featuring Sparta as a playable faction, and
    enhance the campaign experience further beyond.

    Why would you not want to go for such a mod instead of looking for an rtw version of "meet the spartans"?
