For those of you who want the spartan hoplites, these were for all intents and purposes gone. By 270 BCE Sparta was long past its glory and the Spartiates were mostly officers. In fact IIRC one spartan king decided to adopt the macedonian phalanx, because practically everyone else had already done so.

I'm well aware the Spartans of this era are not the ones of the past. That said 99 percent of people do not know this and Spartans are the super soldiers of the past to them.
