    Hi everyone,

Can someone give me an idea on what i can expect from my Rig please? I know it's quite good but honestly was a little disappointed with Shogun 2 results playing it.
Though i think that might be down to playing DarthMod with it and 1.5X unit size etc Anyway, any comments are greatly appreciated.

    My Rig

    CPU :Core i5-3570k 3.4Ghz Overclocked to 4.3Ghz
GPU :Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 in SLI
    RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1600MHz
    Motherboard : Asus Sabertooth Z77
    PSU : Corsair CX750 750W
    Case : Corsair Carbide 300R

    High settings. Huge unit sizes.

What exactly were you disappointed with in Shogun 2 with that rig?

What resolution were you playing in dude? Seems like you should've been able to ultra at 1080p.

Go with a GTX 760 2GB (check prices at your local online retailers, this card might not be as cheap as it is here in the States) and add another 4GB of RAM. Your rig now is plenty good enough to run Rome 2 as is, keep in mind.

The SSD will just make loading the game, loading other programs, and loading windows itself faster. It will not decrease loading times between turns late in the campaign game, thats not an issue that can be resolved by adding hardware. Once your SSD is installed you can just reinstall Windows to that drive and then through your BIOS make the SSD your #1 Boot option. We'll cross that bridge later on how to do that, very simple

All your games, music, videos, pictures will still be saved on your HDD.
Checked his site, and he doesnt have the GTX in stock, and at €285 its maybe a bit too pricy considering i also need a new mouse and im already buying the ssd and the extra ram.

So considering GPU is out, would an CPU/MoBo upgrade be worth it? Considering its a long term investment, im not looking for an immediate boost (my ssd and ram will do that), but just so i dont need to renew them in the next 5-6 years. My windows performance index rates my cpu as the lowest part (aside from the hard drive)

Yes, and considering you're on an AMD CPU, making the switch to Intel and getting a nice new motherboard along with it will last you years to come, and give you a solid performance increase on Rome 2 with the Intel chip. You're old GFX card will run Rome 2 just fine and AMD is putting out their new GFX cards here soon too which will provide you with more options.

GPUs get better every other day it feels like so I'd never recommend buying the newest top end +$350 card. Unless you are a junkie for that slight increase in FPS.

As for your CPU/motherboard options, check his site, get the i5-4670 Haswell CPU. There is an i5-4670K that he may have as well. This allows for overclocking, which I am not sure if you have any interest in doing, but is probably $20 to $30 more.

Do we know just how much better the 9000 series will be? I have 2 6970's, is it likely that 1 9770 (or a slightly beefier version of the 9770, like a ghz-edition) will be better?

@ lockcaps - no, 2 6970 (top tier 6000 cards) are definitely going to be more powerful than a single 9770 (entry level 9000 card).

I think it'll be safe to assume that a 9870 will be just as, or probably more powerful, than a single 6970.

But I'm fairly confident to say that a 9970 (flagship 9000 card) will be more powerful than a 780, and maybe even a Titan, if the leaks I have seen are correct.

Guys , anyone can help me in what quality I can play Rome 2 ?

    This is my system :

    Windows 7 Ultimate

    Processor : Intel(R) Core i5 - 2300 Cpu @ 2.80 GHz

    Ram : 4 GB DDR3

Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GT 440

adding that I have both windows 7 and XP , I could play Shogun 2 on ultra although it barely had some lag when I tried to zoom in and move the camera so fast or put speed bottom to end the rest of battle ( while moving the camera so fast everywhere ) .

By the way I played shogun 2 with both Directx 9 and 11 . It seemed Directx 9 in windows XP had a better quality .

Any idea or guide for me ?

Hi guys overclocking question. My PC is meant to be overclocked to 4.6GHZ. I run CPU-Z to test this. With Shogun 2 on ultra it gets up to 3.9GHZ and strangely with Prima 95 it only goes to 3.7GHZ. Is their a better way to check?

    I run an i7 3770K.

    Cheers.

Use the turbo multiplier (x43-45) do not raise BCKL. It should be 100 MHz all times

Anyone who is unsure about performance in Rome 2 please run the benchmarks and contribute in the TWC benchmark thread. That help splenyi and other contributors here to estimate your performance.

I think it's still great mate yeah upgrading the graphics is the only worth while thing you could do, replacing your 570 with a 770 will give 50-100% performance improvement. If you can wait though, think about AMD's 9000 cards, because they will be better.

    Hi All,

Thinking of upgrading my 2x 480s for a superclocked 780 (supposed to get the same performance as a Titan -!). The noise and heat from the 480s is unbearable and I now play with 1440p resolution, so looking at taking a step up.

Could anyone see if I may have any bottlenecks limiting a 780 card substantially? Help truly appreciated

    1. 12gb Ram ddr3 (at1600mhz, 6x2gb)
    2. P6X58D-E mobo (done think it's pcie3, but I've heard pcie2 is no major bottleneck)
    3. Samsung 830c 500GB SSD
    4. i7 950 (currently at 3.06GHz, could overclock safely to 3.8 if needed)
    5. 1500w PSU

    Thanks!

any cpu will bottleneck your GPUs either SLI 480 or one 780. Please join our benchmark thread and submit your results would be very interesting to have your rig there

First time on a SLI setup so I dont know how much improvement it brings, can anyone with Shogun 2 experience tell me?

Like alQ said, regardless of CPU, SLI will never reach full potential. Are you hoping to run Rome 2 on high settings/Huge unit sizes?

You'll get that with your i5-3570k, 1 GTX 760, and 8 GB of RAM. Might have to make some adjustments to shadows and AA.

Why don't you just purchase one GTX 760 and play Rome on it when it releases in 4 weeks then you can always add another card, although I believe your purchase won't do an extreme justification towards performance.

That benchmark you compared to isn't really a great resource to judge by your system either, thats an OC'd 4th Gen CPU and two monster GPU's. His GPU's alone make up 65% of my total system cost...

    Finally, whats your budget?
