I am thinking of cleaning my PC up before Rome 2 total war is out. I have 6 GB RAM but only like 2 and a half space left on it. Which I think contributes to little lag issues on Shogun 2 on ultra settings. Although funny enough when I get closer to the troops, it is smooth enough, this is when there is lots of units. It just stops being smooth when you tower above the armies high up.

So I have uninstalled many programmes and some games.

I was asking if the system i chose was good enough for gaming and is the GTX 660 good enough for games or should I have 760 instead.

Al qamar the one you picked is too expensive I need money in that bank still for other things if I get that one you suggested I won't have any left.

My budget is around £700 roughly

Well the 660 is good enough for gaming, and will be able to play RTW2 (although not on high-est settings). For 700 pounds you could defs build a machine which will run RTW2. Look at the original post at the beginning of this thread for a range of price points. Personally, I would save up more money and buy a higher budget computer later on in the year. As a bonus, CA will have patched many of the problems which are inherent at the initial release date. If, on the other hand, you do just need to play this game on sept/3 (as I do!) then choose a better website to buy from, something with a greater range of products. Many of the drop-down options for components on that site seem to show sub-par products. CPU - i33240 - $130

thanks for helping me al qamar and I keep looking for gaming pcs but some don't look that good or if I configure them they go right up in price. I need money still in bank to pay for other things hopefully I can get one soon I wanna go on shogun 2 again haven't played it for a few weeks lol I kinda miss playing it hahah..

I already got speakers,mouse,keyboard and screen just need a new system and it will have to be £700 as I need some money in there just incase I wanna buy something oneday

Forgot to mention I still need operating system as well windows 7 64bit is what I want.

Hey guys, lionheartx10 played a alpha build at rome 2 total war, he mentions that they had the settings turned up quite a bit (ultra, ssao on, lots of aa) he said it was running quite well, the rig he was using had a gtx 570 in it, and a intel processer (didnt say which) he also said there is a new option for intel processors to deal with more things in the graphical menu! Considering its a alpha build, quite exciting to hear that it runs so well on a gtx 570.

Quick question that relates to my previous post:

For about the same price, should I get an i5 processor with 2 GB video memory, or an i7 with 1 GB video memory? The other specs are almost the same.

I just got my Gigabyte GTX 760 in too. No doubt it will dominate Rome 2.

Are you asking about how much VRAM you should get with your graphics card?

Definitely 2GB if thats the case. If you only use your PC for gaming then there is not much benefit selecting an i7 over and i5. Especially if you're buying the new i5/i7 Haswell 4 CPUs.

Hello I apologize for asking this question but I am worrying this rig will not play Rome 2. Trust me, low settings with a respectable fps is perfect for me. If this is achieved, I shall feel at peace as a TW fan. Mind you, this is only a fraction of my entire DXDIAG report. Let me know if you need more info.

Are you asking about how much VRAM you should get with your graphics card?

Definitely 2GB if thats the case. If you only use your PC for gaming then there is not much benefit selecting an i7 over and i5. Especially if you're buying the new i5/i7 Haswell 4 CPUs.

I got my windforce gtx 760 in the mail a week ago, and dont worry it will dominate, as I said earlier lionheart was playing on ultra on a 570, and getting good frames! AND THATS A ALPHA BUILD

Hey guys, I'm hoping to get some opinions on what I can expect when Rome 2 gets released next month.

Currently I've got a gaming PC I built myself way back when in 2011!

Vital specs:

AMD 6970 2GB Graphics Card
i5 2500k OC @ 4.2Ghz
8gb of Ram at 1333Mhz (I was thinking of swapping this out for 8gb of 1600Mhz ram as I've heard the TW series are one of the few that see significant benefits when it comes to higher speed?).

Hi goose unless you could do a good deal there is no urgent need to swap the ram especially if it has a cl7 latency the rest should be good enough try out performance first before further upgrades. Then come back here again.

Your xenon? (Where did you get that ) cpu is well enough but you should upgrade / replace the ram (2x4gb DDR2 800) you can get that cheap and used on eBay
