I got a red screen while playing a game. I shut the computer down via the On/Off Button and I rebooted and everything worked fine. Anyone know what this is?

Please run msi kombustor and see if you have the same problem.

Still waiting for the proper replies of Doe 3000 and Keithzor. .

I would like to be on the safe side and want him to do this benchmark so we know in future what we talk about having plain figures and comparisons

I'd also like to see a benchmark of that Phenom, just to compare other CPUs too.

    I also run my 4670K at 4.4Ghz

As I posted earlier the "problem" is your cpu. Six cores but games do not support it.
    Not Total War anyway.

That would be to easy mate. Open your computer case and take it from the sticker of your psu model vendor (total wattage combined +12 volt) e.g

Anyway, the Noctua Nh u12s is sold out, is the Noctua nh u12p a good replacement?

Eh lol? And I can't open my case at the moment. I think my PC will run it fine, it was just curious.

No I dont think it will run fine. But "fine" - is a subjective view , sorry I cannot help you then with a professional recommendation.
Would be great to have pictures of the SPD tab and also if you have made the Shogun 2 CPU benchmark as posted. Somehow, I don't know why it seems for me you come around to hear what other think not to get helped. Wrong?

    bit offtopic talk:
I was shocked seeing the screenshots, tbh! 105Watts TDP for 6x3.1 GHz dispite 45nm architecture... AMD is really in need to get forward.

Hi Doe, can you make the CPU Benchmark? Reading your budget and the PSU mate, honestly save your money. Any money spend in this amount cannot help you. Sorry to say.

Hi alQamar, thank you for your help + Rep. I assumed the PSU would be a problem considering the low wattage, and I don't consider spending money on a low grade graphics card update to be much use if it isn't going to improve graphics performance by much. Thanks again for you help!

I plan to go for the Asus Z87 pro, because of the wifi. The only downside I can find with it is that it only has two usb 3 ports, and therefore I wonder: what do you use usb 3 ports over usb 2 ports for?

Hard disks, usb flash drives, sometimes wifi, maybe. You usually don't really need many of them.

@alQamar Thanks for your reply and help. My PSU is a Zoostorm model with a total of 300 Watts. My country is the United Kingdom and my budget is around Ł100+ (I haven't fully decided yet).

    So AlQ

Since I'm presuming everyone says a good GPU is needed but a beast CPU is really needed what do you think of this 2 setups as the best outcome to fulfill high settings with 40vs40 battles atleast:

    NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 770M with 3GB GDDR5

    16GB Dual Channel DDR3L at 1600MHz

    4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4800MQ processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.7GHz)

    or

    NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780M with 4GB GDDR5

    16GB Dual Channel DDR3L at 1600MHz

    4th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ processor (6MB Cache, up to 3.4GHz)

The Main difference being the CPU. I researched each cpu as best I could and the 4800 is slightly better than the 4700MQ but for instance going from the 4700MQ to the 4900MQ on the othe rhand isnt worth it as the 4800MQ is just barely less powerful than the 4900MQ

This is my dilemma and i have until the 7th of august to decide

That's very reasonable! Thanks for rep. I am still curious about the benchmark please submit it. After it has been run show log files and upload the log here.

Both have too much ram and you do not profit from a i7 in total war.
Try to go for a 770m or 780m with an i5 with much GHz. And just 8gb DDR3L (caution: 2x4 gb not 1x 8 gb)
    Saves you loads money.

Mmhh, that won't be possible unless he picks an Ivy Bridge laptop, as of now all haswell mobile i5 are for ultrabooks and all are dual cores with HT, so he's better off with i7, I'm afraid.
    Too bad.

So you're saying something like this would be better?

    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-3230M processor (3M Cache, up to 3.2 GHz)

    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600MHz

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M GDDR5 2GB

Would suit me better since it's an i5?
