^^sounds great Splenyi... perhaps we can additionally link a "how to" save steam and prevent downloading all stuff just because of reformat / reinstall. A lot of people in my business life or in private complain about Windows or Steam but they mostly are not aware how to use it a proper way

Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone can assist in giving me an idea as to how well my computer will be able to run Rome 2, i.e. what settings might be possible, as I know it will be able to run it in some capacity.

    Processor: Intel Q9450
    Graphics: HD 7850
    RAM: 4GB DDR2
    Screen Resolution: 1680x1050

tbh should be ok. some aa and med/high.

i used to own that chip and you can overclock it. if you dont want to spend masses of cash i'd buy a $30 cooler and oc it to around 3.4ghz...that will help you out a fair bit. (you;d have to rebuild).

dpends a bit on your psu+case+cooling.

your gpu would love a bit of cpu muscle. (i ran a q9450 @3.6ghz with a 5870..your gpu is a fair bit better).

sad to say you are looking at a new cpu upgrade soonish rather than later.

@ Ketchup - Unit sizes medium/high (depending on how big the armies are, probably get away with high). Graphics on high

It'll be enough to march your Legionnaires to America and back. But first I'll (and by I'll, I mean me with your amazing help ) need to optimise the existing builds. Cases is something that comes to mind first.

Ultrabooks aren't meant for gaming, they are for general/professional use.

But that's not an ultrabook anyway, it's a laptop. But yeah, I suppose it's a fairly good deal for a laptop. MSI gaming laptops have always been well priced, if you're not getting one of their fancy ones.

The 770 is a good $150 above the 760, so yeah, I wouldn't have recommended that for you because it's right out of price range.

The build you're looking at is very similar to the "Excellent" build on the OP. It's a great build, and you'd be playing on high-ultra units (take it down to high on 4-5 full stack armies), and high-ultra graphics. It's got a great price/performance ration. But I've never heard of the PSU, do you have a link to it?

that true I think I recommended an MSI gaming laptop in this thread with a 750M, it was about 700 $

You wrote "2GBx16" thats not "2GBx3"

Ok then. Stick to your setup then it looks good. The PSU seems not to be a known vendor but I would mind replacing a 800Watts PSU and better keep it as long it is running.
I see just was not able to read it so you have 3x2 GB 1600 DDR3? Thats an unlucky configuration 2 of the RAMs will run in dual-channel and 2GB in single channel. You better get one 2GB stick out and stay with 4 GB instead of 6. or buy 2x2 GB of the SAME type (use A-DATA model code to get the exact same RAM), they you would have a 4x2 GB configuration resulting 8 GB and all of them run dual channel.

Yes, sorry I see what you are sayings. I have 3x2 Gb 1600 DDR3. So would it be advisable to just use only 2 sticks running in dual channel? Also I believe the PSU I have is an Antec 800 Watt.

ALSO.... What is the difference between i5-4670 vs i5-4430? It seems like the 4670 is just clocked a little higher? Would that difference be a major improvement in game play? It is a $45 difference in price.

seen that, but laptop specs vary from desktop, i.e. can the GTX 760 be compared to the GTX 760M?

No, the 760 is more powerful, but this is a question for the thread I posted.

Is that even an ultrabook? Looks more like a gaming laptop in my eyes. But it should run Rome 2 on med/high settings I reckon.

A mobile GTX 780M is only as fast as a Desktop GTX 650, a GTX 660 is already over 60% faster than a GTX 650 so may imagine how slow mobile GPUs are, nothing to play at ultra or high, even though their CPUs are quite performant.

I'd say he has a capable rig for tw and if were him I would save for a new mobo ddr4 RAM and CPU in 2014 and leave it as it is currently. If his psu can handle it now I don't see a need for a newer really as TDP is dropping fast.
Totalheadaches idea with the cooler is a good one! go for the evo 212 you may take it with later in 2014 as well.

i mentioned the psu because if you oc it might pop a generic one!

but yeah the cheapest best way of improving his fps is getting a new cooler. i dont think q9450 is way of the dodo just yet, close...

Can I please get some feedback and suggestions if any are needed on this build? It's a mix of good-great. I was able to find some of my older parts from a build 3 years ago.

    MOBO: Asus H87 Pro
    CPU: i5 4670
    Graphics: GTX 760
RAM: ADATA Gaming Series DDR3-1600 2GBx16 (3 sticks totaling 6GB)(salvage from previous build)
HDD: Hitachi 1TB SATA 3.0 7200RPM (salvage from previous build)
Power Supply: ATX-CB 800 Watt (salvage from previous build)
    Case: Corsair 400R
SSD: will upgrade to SSD later down the road

I have disc 2 disc drives and wireless mouse and keyboard already. I also have my back Windows 7 software so I don't have to spend money on that. Any suggestions about cost savings or anything would be greatly appreciated. What type of settings will I be able to run with this setup? With the parts I found from my previous build I'm spending $699 on this build.

Very great no issues with that. If you can effort take a evga 770 sc. Can you please correct your RAM seems to be a typo there.

I can't afford a 770. I wish I could because the fps is a huge jump from the 760. What typo about the RAM? I just copied the info from directly from the stick of RAM. Each stick of RAM is 2GB and I have 3 sticks.

What type of settings could I run with this setup? Thank you for the reply!
