Splenyi hi can you explain the C2 stepping bug a little bit? From what I've read it only affects some USB ports if you use sleep mode.Does it affect performance in any way?

    @AngryPolack
No, it doesn't affect performance at all.

    The bug is:
If you have attached a storage device (e.g. USB stick, external HD, ...) to a USB 3.0 port and your computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation, the external storage device will not be immediately available but will behave like unplugged and plugged in again, usually including a message box in Windows. This happens with only certain (unspecified) devices from some (unspecified) manufacturers.

I have a Z87 board with C1 stepping myself and haven't had a problem with my external Sharkoon USB 3.0 HD port, any of my USB sticks or cameras after the computer wakes up from sleep. So the problem is probably relatively limited.

Also, I think it will be pretty difficult to exchange a C1 motherboard since it's a minor bug and was well known before the boards were released.

Barbarian bet me to it I haven't had any USB problems either, but my PC doesn't go to sleep often.

if installing Windows 7 or 8 please use UEFI boot not legacy boot mode (press F8 at Asus on Bootup). Enable the secure boot function for Windows 8. He will make a GPT instead of a MBR partition and this leads to a significant Windows boot speed on SSDs (3-4 seconds) in particular. Please check if your mainboard has got the C2 stepping. If not please exchange it at the retailer. Read why some posts above.

Apply the cooler that way it is soaking up the air from the bottom to top not like most usual install it from front to back and mount the backside cooler to the top aswell instead so you have clean airflow to the top direction. This rig shows how. But the backside cooler is not needed as it distract the airflow into two directions. a big top cooler or two smaller ones are optimal to create a chimney effect and additonally cool the GPU with cooling the CPU.

Hi Keithzor, do you have this rig already or only think about order. If you already have it please visit and run the benchmarks linked below to get an impression. The CPU is good enough!

Its coming tomorrow, I already have the graphics card. Getting that Intel CPU and a Intel mother board with it. 6GB RAM I currently have. Should I increase that?

Nah 6GB is fine, but how are they made up? How many sticks?

Well I thought I had less than 6GB before I got my graphics card. So 2 GB must have been added on.

The card memory doesn't count as system memory.

So must have had 6GB originally. So how many sticks is that then? My brother sets my computer up for me. I know I should learn more about my own PC.

Ask your brother then. It's either 3x2GB or 2GB + 4GB. In either case you aren't running proper dual channel, which has little impact on games, but is not ideal.

If he has got 3x2GB then 2x2 will run in dual channel and one of them single channel. We need a cpu z log to see that.

Just a quick question: I saw a video where people from Intel and CA were talking about technologies they had been using in Rome II. They mentioned that they used some directx11.1 features. So will the game support directx11.1?

Just stopping by to share something interesting about the upcoming AMD 9000 series. Here are some of the supposed leaked specifications: http://gpuboss.com/graphics-card/Radeon-HD-9970

If true, that is one beefy piece of hardware, holy crap.

Funny if that comes out and renders the new consoles immediately outdated. This next one could be the last major console generation imo.

Consoles are always old tech, AMD's fancy Jaguar APU has the power of the mid-range in the present. Meaning it was the high-end 1 or 2 generations ago.

Consoles will be around forever mate, in any shape or form

@ Metallistic - yep, I've seen some crazy leeks too. If they are to be believed, then the people that spent $1000 on a Titan are already outdated
