    Default Self killing...?

    Hello all you hoplite freaks
    I downloaded XGM just yesterday and today I finally started playing it, with Mecadon...
    And then, on my very first "major" battle (aginst that huge greek army in athens..) I noticed something which was wierd.
    I dunno it it's a bug or it's a feature in this mod - Self Killing.
    In RTW vanilla, Your archers' arrows could kill your units as well, that's fine with me.

    In XGM however, it seems that your spears can kill your units too!
    For example, I made a straight pike line with levy pikemen in front of the enemy hoplite line.
    First, their Peltasts came close so I sent some light lancers to ward them off.
    Unforuntly, They passed by the pike line, which caused quite severe causlties for me...
    out of 20 light lancers, 5 wer'e killed - before they even charged in!
    Here's a "diagram" to better explaing what happned:

    PP

    LL |||||||||||

    PP = enemy peltasts
    LL = Light Lancers
    | = Levy Pikemen

    So, what happned was that I ordered the LL to atteck the PP, and on the way they passed by my own units' pikes and sevreal wer'e killed on the way, 5 to be exact.

    Now for my question - Is it a bug? Is it a mod feature?
    If it's a mod feature, Can I somehow disable it? as XGM looks like a great mod, but that feature is not exactly fitting for a game wite such poor AI and path finding such as RTW...

    Thank you for all helpers

    Its happened to me, for starters, when i charged some cavalry through one of my phalanxes. Im pretty sure it doesnt happen when they're walking through them.

    It happens when you charge your own cavalry through the rear, or in the front of your own phalanxs to attack an enemy, your cavalry will skewer themselfs. It's not a bug.

    I kinda figured out that it's not a bug but a mod feature, so - How can I disable it? I don't want this feature :<

    It's not exactly a bug, and it happens in vanilla as well, just not as much. In XGM the pikes are more lethal, so you get more deaths. Usually it happens when you try to charge through a pike line that is in phalanx mode, and it's especially bad if the pikeline is engaged. Personally I think it makes it more realistic. In reality there is no way you could move cavalry through a pike formation.

    I know it's more realistic, but the thing is - I didn't move my cavarly through my pikes!
    I ordered them to attack an enemy unit, very far from my pikes, but due to the poor AI and path finding in the game they charged through my pikes and then to the enemy unit - that's why I want to disable this feature.

    you can't disable the feature, you can only avoid it... hold down shift and give your cav waypoints to the enemy...

    Unfortunatlely there is no way to disable it. You can reduce it by reducing the attack on pike units (but then your pike units will be weak), or by raising their pikes before you move your cavalry though (that's what I usually do, or as Sidmen suggests you can use waypoints.
