    Icon5 Game Will Not Start

    Quite Puzzled About this:
Running Windows 7, all hardware is easily sufficient. Game version is CD, MIITW Gold. Fully installed, updated to 1.05, installed TATW 3.0 Pt. 1, TATW 3.0 Pt. 2, TATW 3.1, TATW 3.2. When I click the desktop shortcut, I get a brief glimpse of a DOS window, then nothing. After a minute or two, a dialogue box from securom saying I have the wrong CD inserted, except neither CD is the correct one, in securom's opinion. I have done the fixes to turn off the Virtual Store nonsense.

I notice the desktop shortcut points to a .dat file - surely that's wrong? I do have Steam but this is not a Steam copy and thus I cannot see how using that method would be necessary.

I played this before (albeit on another computer with a different version of MIITW) without any problems at all. Any thoughts?

    Much Obliged.

Hm, do you also have steam M2TW version installed at the same time? It can interfer with your DVD version. You should post about this in M2TW main Tech Help forum, better help there.

No, indeed I do not. I recently ran Stainless Steel without any issues, so I guess it must be an issue with this particular mod.

I uninstalled and deleted everything from SS, reinstalled M2TW and TATW, still nothing

    1. Go here and apply step 3 from section How to fix it for your main M2TW folder ( default one is C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War ).

    2. Uninstall TATW using Control Panel\ Uninstall program.

    3. Delete manually Third_Age_3 folder in your C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods folder.

    4. Unhide hidden folders:
On your DESKTOP, click on START in the bottom left corner, in Search Programs and Files type in Folder Options, click on Folder Options, go to VIEW section, and in Hidden files and folders check the box next to SHOW hidden files, folders or drives. Apply, and OK.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    5. BEFORE installing Third Age again, go to Virtual store ( C:\ Users\ [user name or your PC`s name]\ AppData\ Local\ VirtualStore\ Program Files (x86)\ Medieval 2 Total War\ mods folder), delete Third_Age_3 folder found there. If you don`t have Third_Age_3 folder there, procced with installation.

    6. Install all four TATW parts - TATW part 1 and part 2, TATW patch 3.1 and TATW patch 3.2 ( CHECK the INSTALLATION paths carefully for ALL Installers, default one is C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\Medieval II Total War, if your M2TW is installed somewhere els, then point ALL Installers to that other folder path).

    Good luck!

Yeah, tried that already, didn't change anything unfortunately. If a reinstall of everything didn't take an hour+ I might try that again.

Can you confirm that you can still run regular M2TW and Kingdoms?

I opened the loading screen for M2TW, didn't actually try to load the game. The only oddity was that it had a large section of the start-up screen that didn't load, stayed white, acted like it was trying to load but I didn't wait around for it. Loading both CDs into the drive causes the computer to recognize they are present and give me the option to run the primary exe or look at the folders on the discs, so I can't understand why securom is inisisting there is the wrong disc in the drive.

You opened the loading screen, but you didn't load the game? I'm not sure that I understand. Can you confirm that M2TW and Kingdoms will load and play normally?
