Countering US Marines

I just started playing FotS multiplayer. It was great for the first few battles, but now I'm getting matched up with high ranked bronze and low ranked silver/gold and I am seeing this stupid unit every single battle. Super long range, super killing power, and frankly it feels like this unit must not cost enough because they can still field pretty big armies to back them up.

What on earth are you supposed to do against this?

Best thing you can do is to not engage it frontally, usually. Generally, for one unit of marines you can field two units of basic infantry, which you can use for flanking.

That is exactly how I do it, and it's not just against marines. In general where you don't have the range that your opponent does flanking is a good counter.
