building forts bridges and walls and other advanced engineering projects?
Has there been much word on anything like this coming? I get so bored at times doing campaigns on all the games and i just wish there was something you could undertake to help fortify an empire.I tend to beef up star forts and supply posts around the rings of my empire and just wish i could build a wall like hadrian or earthworks like ceasar did in gaul.
And then there are the forts from the first rome! Are they going to be able to be built anywhere? And what about bridges across the rhine? I know it might be a bit difficult for germans to get access to gauls to fight but historically there were no bridges across large rivers in these times.Remember when the romans spent 2 years just to build one across the rhine? Or was it the danube i foget
I really hope there are some cool engineering projects for the romans with plenty of coins from pillage to spend.I see no reason why you cannot start building a wall across a province and link them up like the great wall of china! Just let the game auto deduct money for each section and if you go bankrupt then well work simply stops until you get money again.
Have you guys got any cool building projects you would like your faction to be able to undertake?

I'm quite certain it has been announced already that there will be forts that the legions will build for themselves if you decide. Things like Hadrian's Wall is probably not going to happen in the game. It might, but I just didn't hear about anything of the sorts.

I just hope they wont resemble the Rome and M2 style fort and actually be useful for a siege-type scenario.

You know what would be nice - watchtower with garrison, limited to 1 or 2 units
Also have you seen that ?

I would love to be able to make specially designed forts. Ones designed for defending river crossings and others designed on the sides of hills in mountain crossings. And others designed on top of hills.

The main issue is that for the cost of building a star fort in NTW it was usually better to just conquer the enemy or build more soldiers. The other problem is that lowering the cost when AI can't figure out how to attack past barriers is cheap win. So basically the higher defensive structures are simply for flavor and not really have a strategic purpose or reason to build them in game.
Fort/barrier affects maybe could be rebuilt. Forts could represent more than 1 fort slowing down invaders if they have to capture each one (which is abstracted out into 1 single fort battle) and entering ZoC of fort costs invading army -50% movement.

I'd really like to see bridges play a more important role in the game actually.
Building bridges and sabotaging them could be a great way to affect the movement of armies. Wooden bridges could be completely destroyed when sabotaged and require to be rebuild, stone bridges could be a lot harder to sabotage for whatever agent can do such a thing.
