There is a feature I would like to see implemented in Rome2, and that is the construction of permanent fortifications or walls as a part of the regional defense strategy. Bear in mind, I’m not talking about the new dynamic defense posture for units, which already has been confirmed as a new feature.
The Roman Empire was notorious for constructing fortifications to protect occupied areas throughout the empire http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_m...fortifications. This feature could be relevant for all major empires to establish control of occupied areas, Seleucids, Carthaginians, and Parthians etc.
If a permanent fortifications/walls was constructed this could have different levels of implications for trade, protection and security of the population, line of sight on the strategic map, response time to incursions and maintenance cost the area. These building constructions could affect the overall regional status as follows:
Camps or border patrols
- Protection/ security = +1
- Population happiness = 0
- Line of sight=+1
- Maintenance cost = +1
- Protection/ security = +2
- Trade= +1
Permanent Fortress (Population is starting to settle around the fort):
- Protection/ security = +3
- Population happiness = +1
- Line of sight = +2
- Trade= +2
- Maintenance cost = +3
- Auxiliaries loyalty = +1
Wall (Population is starting townships):
- Protection/ security = +4
- Population happiness = +2
- Line of sight = +2
- Trade= +3
- Maintenance cost = +4
- Auxiliaries loyalty = +1
