Default Betraying followers evens idea ...

    How about this idea...

Some followers you have chosen to be part of your general company. Could berray you if their loyalty is low or if your actions offend him ....
Think of Arminius german as a follower of Varus he leads him straight into an ambush and becomes the enemy leader...
Or think of Brutus that backstab Caesar, or think of another follower that backstab arminius and so on ...
Perhaps revolting followers could have a negative effect on units untill discovered or unmasked?
This could lead to secondary scenarios in the game where you have to suspect even your own keen or followers somehow ....

That sounds awesome. A very good idea if CA would like to add captains and such to a general's army. :] I could see the use of spies being essential in finding out these would-be-traitors, which would give a boost to the loyalty of other captains out of fear, and a bonus to the finding general and spy. Very nice idea.

well they wouln't need to be traitors at the beginning , but perhaps they could observe your actions and act consequently , perhaps not all will become traitors , but some may be so much funtamentalists on their ideas that perhaps they could ...

like for example if you Get Arminius as follower and you pursue some pro his cause actions perhaps he wouln't have turned into an enemy leader , or perhap if you get around you some regligious zaelot , if you do not care to follow his visions perhaps he may start a complot against you or so on ....

This is already included. For example in ETW "exiled nobleman" or "large carbuncle" both had a certain chance in the beginning of your turn to kill their owner. I cannot see any other way a retainer could start to live its own life and threaten your general or your nation.

Would be nice if theres more to traitor generals and agents, not only turning against you but there being a chance they really do something that will hurt you.

Like a general betraying you, and also laying siege to your city with the troops you gave him.

Or a spy giving away information about you, or an assasin killing one of your own in the turn he betrays you. Priests or such changing allegiance could lower public order of the province they are in, if its in a province owned by you.

If you like that sort of thing you should do more sea battles on RTW
Very little would make me not want to buy RTW2 but relying less on skill and more on ai whims would do it for me

I like this idea, maybe we could get some of our units suddenly turning against us or refuse to obey orders? That would be a shock!

I don't see this happening too much, since the soldiers are still of the same nationality as the city they would be besieging. I think the betrayals should be a little subtler.
