Default Any mods that turn this game into Medieval ?

Being a history buff Rome Total War was the first game that got me into PC gaming, I was strictly a sports console gamer up until that point. Medieval 2 was just as awesome and it kept me going..... then Shogun 2 came along, and I could never get into it whatsoever, even though I studied Japanese history and was a big fan of the era. The visual style of the game was drastically different, it was gloomy and dark as opposed to the vibrant colors and brightness of Rome and Medieval.

The visual style and lack of other cultures civilizations turned me off the game almost completely, I've only ever done 2 full campaigns.
So now I just built a new PC dug up my old disc, came on here to see if there's any full blown mods that turn this game into something completely different, like Medieval or Rome ?? or is that wondering asking for too much ?

I browsed around the mod section for like 2 days now, could not find anything, so I'm wondering if I missed something ? thanks for reading

No way, sorry. Shogun 2 mods are only "simple" mods, compared to the ones of Rome and Medieval 2.
Disclaimer: the post above is way way prealpha, the final version will be way better than this.

Sadly, the days of major overhaul mods are over. CA has made sure of this.

? We have the means of adding new models, as demostrated by kundfuserge, and now the campaign map is editable. Its a slow tedious process but if you look in the mod workshops a map of europe is being created. Animations would be an issue but we havnt changed those sinnce the beggining. We can now make a mods to the level of med 2, it just takes time and inspiration. Currenly we dont have someone who is willing to put together any huge projects but in 7 years i garantee we will have a huge selection of huge mods like med 2 and rome.

I personnallly enjoyed shogun. What things that got worse over the years that made the game less enjoyable? The trade ship thing has been happening since rome as you could block a port with one ship thats down to the last man.

oh I see I see, I guess I'll have to wait until Rome 2 and I guess another Medieval 3 or something, I suppose they'll be releasing that sometime in the future as well.

    thanks for clearing it up

It looks to be the way they're going, I just hope they kick themselves into gear about it. So far it seems the series is going downhill as far as core gameplay and problem solving goes. Oh sure things look pretty and all, but still.

Speak for yourself. I absolutely love the changes Shogun 2 made to the formula and very much hope Rome II will continue in the same footsteps. I'll most likely end up buying it no matter what they do, but if they regress on gameplay flow and balance (which seem pretty bad in all the previous games now that i'm used to Shogun) I probably won't end up playing it that much.

Mmmhmmm, because a small, badly damaged trade ship somehow being able to completely shut down your major trading hub makes sense still.

This game is set during late medieval age, except it's in Japan.
