    Default Alternate strategic system for TW?

    the other day I played RTR, and it struck me that it would be extremely fascinating to have a CIV system on strategic map in TW game... you could start with ANY nation desired and place cities wherever you like.
    this system should benefit us in following ways:
    1. would give a bigger and more in depth immersion into the strategic part of the game (you have to think twice before you build a new city)
    2. it would end much of the 'historical accuracy' arguments that are going on on TWC (since you could be playing ANY nation regarless if it were or were not in the begining of the game, the nation would only have to be present in the specific period of time)
    3 it would combine one of the greatest strategy game systems in existance: TW and CIV series

    what do you think of it?

    Yes, that would be awesome :happy0144 . I too have been dreaming about this from when I started playing RTW.
    To be able to build towns would be a great feature and to destroy them to the ground too Also I would like that Civ style 'going to idle characters if they havent moved system' would be implemented in M2TW - that would really reduce the micromanaging, cuz many times in RTW I just forget to move my diplomats and other characters :happy0144

    yeah well Canada is quite off the course... but other nations that've been omitted because of starting date and 'no eras' system? for instance I loved the possibility to build your towns whereever you like... it is such a freedom!

    good idea but that will nead new engine
    if u look at all the total war game it seems like they are using the original engine {shogun}
    they are just modding the engine to work better and better
    just a thought

    Thing is, if you look at mods like Terrae Expugnandae, the argument for historical accuracy ties with gameplay. You need some historical accuracy, like RTR - but you need gameplay, like TE. There is a fine balance. Just that RTW tended to not go for either well enough. *coughArcaniIncendiaryPigsUrbanCohortcough*

    Besides, pre-defined cities are more fun. I like seeing Caen on the pics for M2:TW. About time someone recognised Normandy in a Total War game more! Not just a region name now!
