Default Sudden crash at loading screen before main menu

Okay I am VERY, VERY mad at this whole ordeal. I've been going at it all night, uninstalling, installing, reinstalling, patching, searching, forums, installing, uninstalling etc etc you get the picture. Everytime I open it up, it gets to a loading screen before the main menu and just stops and crashes.

The thing is, before this, it did work, except when I went to play a third age campaign if would let me pick a faction and then it would revert to the campaign menu and would let me do anything but press back. That's when I start this whole thing, and now I did a completely clean install it crashes before the main menu.

I am playing with Win 8, I have already tried to turn UAC off and install it after I've done that and it still won't work. (In fact I have UAC off right now still) I have a CD retail version of the original game, Medieval II: Total War and Kingdoms and they are both all patched to 1.5, I've checked that numerous times. I am not using any submods at all, just TATW part 1 and 2 as well as patches 3.1 and 3.2 for it as well. Help .......... me, I want to play this mod so bad.

Dunno about Win 8 but win 7, to get a clean install, you need to

    1. Uninstall everything starting with the Kingdoms campaigns through Add/Remove Programs,
    2. Delete all Medieval II total War folders including the virtual store,
    3. run a good free registry cleaner,
    4. Reboot,
    5, and reinstall and patch.

If it still happens, run regedit and search for official and unofficial. Delete the unofficial ones.

Thanks for the hasty reply btw.

So I guess this would be my most clean install yet. I've removed everything, deleted the program files that has anything to do with Sega, ran CCcleaner got rid of a bunch of entries relating to Medieval Total War. Rebooted.

I am in the process of patching and installing Kingdoms, so I will get back to you. I do have one question, how is it am I supposed to search through regedit? I'm computer illiterate but I know what regedit is, just not how to use it. For future references of course, which I'm sure I'll need to do after all this is installed and patched for the 100th time

    For regedit,

CTRL + F will give you the find box.
In it is where you enter things like official, unofficial, medieval, etc.
F3 key will have it search for the next one of what you entered.

Okay so I tried once again and once again it crashed before the main menu. I tried running it in as admin but it says "windows cannot find kingdoms.exe, please make sure you typed the name correctly and try again" or something of that nature. Its installed correctly tho, in the main Medieval II directory, and I can see kingdoms.exe is exactly where it should be as well. Any ideas?

Because I can't seem to find an edit button.

It seems after looking at this thread I've posted in the completely wrong place. I am talking about the Third Age mod. I feel incredibly stupid right now, I must've had a bunch of tabs open of these forums when I first posted this thread. I'm very sorry for wasting your time and I would like to thank you for your help as well, it would've been valuable if I was having this problem with the original game. Since you are a moderator, could you please delete this thread? I didn't mean to do this and since I will be reposting this elsewhere, I do not want to spam the forums as well. Again, sorry.

The mod is installed into the wrong folder. The path should be med2\mods\TATW (or something like that). Or you haven't installed the kingdom campaigns and therefore you have not got any kingdoms.exe
when I went to play a third age campaign if would let me pick a faction and then it would revert to the campaign menu and would let me do anything but press back.
That error should be in the log and is certainly TATW based.
