    Default New Hobby desired

Ok, I am about sick of all the internet surfering I do and I also am pretty much burnt out on video games. So besides my car I need a new hobby.

I was thinking about picking up the guitar and learning how to play. Now I know people who have taught themselves and that is what I was thinking of doing. I have free time when I'm not at work and school to devote to this. My question is what would be a good acustic guitar to purchase (for a beginner) and any suggestions you might have?

Thanks mates! Long live the Arts subforum!

well i was in the same kinda situation as you (want to get off the computer) i got an accoustic as a gift from my uncle, so i can't really help you with that. But if you want an electric, squire stratocaster is really good for noobs (like me). But ya guitar is a really fun way to pass time and i reccomend you doing that.

As far as beginners acoustics go, it doesn't really matter what you buy, so long as it doesn't break. Just look for something around the $60 range, and it should last a few years.

Electrics... try a Squire or an Epiphone, they're probably the best bets for entry level, depending on whether you prefer the Stratocaster design or the Les Paul design.

An acoustic is stunning to learn on, and amazing overall, if I could reccomend a nice, but cheap one:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ack?sku=511194 and you get a cheap mandolin with it... $100 , I thought that was reasonable, musiciansfriend has a great selection in the $100-200 range thouge

    Hope it helps

Well I enjoy knife practicing, I have become quite comfortable with the combat knife, it is pretty fun to flip a knife around like it is nothing. Of course I do have a scar on my hand.

Do what I did when I got bored and was stuck on that POS laptop for the past few months.

Start a website. The one I started pulls in about $100/month in advertising revenue (and it's just getting started.)

It's fun to have a hobby that 1) Keeps my mind in shape and keeps me informed, and 2) pays for itself (and then some).

All fooling aside, I think the guitar is a great idea vizi. I've thought about doing that myself...ok, well I did. But, then Perry was born!

P.S. Everyone click my ads at the top of my website!!! :tooth:

You can do what I do, walk down the streets making fun of people and crushing their hopes and dreams. Some people play tennis, I erode human souls.

Yes, they are American Indian languages. I live in Montana and figure both languages will go well with my knowledge of French (and well, English ).

I'm thinking of specializing in Montana History for my next course of study and Blackfeet, Crow, French and English should cover all the languages used in this area for the past 20,000 years (give or take a couple thousand).

Well my personal favorite hobby for the last 42 years has been slotcar racing. Me and my friend came in third in the world at the championships Chicago in 92.

I used to own my own raceway
I had a track just like this

In fact it my very well be mine.

This is probaly the most popular track

Then there is a whole line of very scale and realistic 32nd scale cars and tracks for the home.
I have nothing against the womens movement. Especially when Im walking behind it.
