AI is Upgrading My Own Provinces - WTH?

I haven't played in about a year and I just recently started a new campaign. I started racking in a lot of cash. I was noticing that some of my provinces were upgrading all by themselves. I can't remember if this was part of the game before or what. Anyone know how to stop this? Any Mods out there? I manage my own taxes so that doesn't seem matter whether it's set to auto or manual. This is so annoying.

I find this very hard to believe. are you sure you werent drunk and forget about upgrading them :p

Screens wont reveal anything in this mystery, . I doubt he will return to the forum on this topic as he probably went back and said. Oooohh ooops

Thx @ss, lol. No dead serious. I don't know what the hell happened. The game just started updating province over province. I would have a farm surplus of like +30 and the AI said **** off, lol. I don't know if it was a mod I was testing or what but was extremely annoying. I started over and it hasn't happen yet. But I'm not at +30 farms yet, soo. I'll video tape if it happens again. At least I know this isn't normal, lol.

I can do some serious modding on this game, so maybe it was something I put in a mod I was making. I did create a brand new Nanban Trade Port building for Buddhists clans. By trying to make it available to all clans, including the AI, I might have changed all the buildings from False to True in the tables.

But you're still an d***, lol. JK.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was probably your own modding of the game that made something weird occur. Might also be worth mentioning in the original post.

Check option maybe? there AI city controller or something if my memory won't fail before you start new campaign.

There shoulde be an option to let AI control provinces when starting a new game. I think it can be turned on/off during an ongoing campaign aswell in game settings

Calm down guys, we all can talk without insulting each other so badly. If I am right, CA has removed the 'AI control' system after Medieval II, so it is very weird if AI is upgrading your provinces. It is possibly a dangerous bug that popped up from a mod.

I heard about this bug from someone a few months ago, and it was a bad case of a pirated copy. I'm not saying you have a pirated copy though.

Probably the auto construction management option was checked, I seen the option in ROTS and Napoleon. Not sure about Empire since I always build stuff by myself. I have seen it in game together with the auto tax management option, and auto city management option in the advanced option during the faction selection screen.

Everything seems ok now. Must have been something I've modded. Ya I probably should have stated have a lot of mods. I just wanted to know if it was normal or not. It's been awhile since I've played and I wasn't sure if it was something added in a patch. Thx.

I haven't delved too much into Shogun 2 mods, just using Darthmod - but in E:TW and Nappy, if you modded it to change the amount of regions at the start for a faction, the added regions sometimes would bug out and an invisible AI would start to try and recruit units or build stuff in it for you. Was rather noticeable in the TGW mod for Nappy and TAR mod for Empire.
