favorite mods

rtr platinum, i like the game because the system is very cool, you cant just take a city and then built an elite unit, you have to built from the start. plus i like the skins too

Darth mod 8 at the moment. The AI is so immensly better then most other mods and the battles as a consequience are much more fun as you have to keep an eye out for clever flankling manouvers etc. I love the map too, ive been waiting for a mod with such a large map to come out for ages, it takes a lot of sieges bfore you can get a decent size of land. The skins are great too, just a shame they left out carthage skins

RTR Platinum would come in second because the whole thing just seems so realistic and challenging, although I think the pace of the game is a little slow, appart from that a perfect mod.

I've got to agree with Vanquisher. Darthmod is a brilliant mod, it doesn't add loads so hardly lags even on my computer and the AI is brilliant compared to vanilla AI.

Another mod I like is Terrae Expugnandae. Great skins, gameplay, huge map...etc

There are four:

Middle-Earth: Total War, Númenor: Total War, The Fourth Age: Total War and The Lord of the Rings: Total War. For info on their releases check this thread: Released Modifications (scroll down to Rome: Total War).

what is darthmod. er.... what exactly does it do? is it compatable with RTG cause i really liek that one

personally i LOVE Terrae Expugnandae.... the reason is because it has the Mundas Magnus version 3 map, two new factions which use the scipii and brutii faction slots, no annoying senate, unified rome, immense battles, less but more critical battles, and also Terrae Expugnandae Gold is soon to be released with new skins for the romans, possibly new animations and much much more...

I downloaded darth 8.0 last night into my game folder with a clean install of RTW and BI-patched up to ver. 1-6. Ran the darth execute and it seemed to install. Clicked finished and booted up the game. Seems like good ole vanilla RTW to me. Is there a way to tell if I sucessfully installed DM? Do the menu screens change, map or anything else? If I did not install it properly, what could I have done wrong?

From what I know of Darth Mod, if the splash screen says Darth Mod on it and it has a really cool custom made pic, then you've installed it correctly. If you're still seeing the old RTW splash screen, then you did something wrong.

I know what the problem is:

DarthMod automatically installs to C:\programs\Activision\Rome - Total War\

Change this to:

C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\

And it should work

And a suggestion to Darth Vader (again): I think it might be a good idea to mention this next to the download link as it looks like a few people have had this problem.

I have only tried out RTR 6.0 Gold and SPQR 6.1... My favorite is currently SPQR :wink:

RTR Platin Edition, Europa Barbarorum [0.8 soon 2 be released]...love both of them for atmosphere, graphics, gameplay...

Blue Lotus & Vlad Mod look very cool, I never played them....hopefully soon....

Next would be DARTH/TE, both great games.
