Game running slowly on massive battles

Hi all

Are there any tips going round on how to get MTW2 to run better on advanced PCs? My game stutters when there are more than 10,000 troops on the field despite having good specs... i know this game only uses one of my four cores, but surely there's something i can do to get it running smoother? i know this question must have been asked a million times, so please go easy on me

The game only uses one core of those four and everything including the proverbial kitchen sink goes through there even before your graphics card sees its first byte.

Gaming Mode as I read somewhere else for the hardcore gamer not worried about graphics but action is low monitor resolution and minimum graphics settings.
