Wow, this German Warrior-Knight looks really awesome. Look at the finesse they drew him with, his equipment, the helmet, the typical German dishwater blond hair (instead of the Scandinavian peroxide blonde portrayed by Hollywood movies all the time), the gritty eyes embedded in hate and disgust, the oak-leafs as a reference, oak-leafs which are an ancient German military symbol that you have shown courage and prowess in combat. The tale is that a man is proven to be a true warrior, a true defender that has protected his loved ones when he has wiped the enemy's blood off his blade using the oak-leafs of the trees of his homeland.
The artist really knew his stuff, the background, some research went into the race, the culture. If they dedicate that eye of detail towards the main game, Rome 2 is going to be awesome.
Really a great picture, a great piece of art.

It's a good piece of concept art, but a bit cartoony noticing the blades.
As for hair I see dark brown and red, didn't the rest of barbarian Europe pretty much have reddish hair pre-migration era regardless?
I don't think today's Holywood cares too much about hair color, they'll use anyone for a part.

I however do not believe that they'd be "all reddish-haired". There are even some people today that still think the majority of Germans are blonde or were blonde in WW2 times, while in reality it is between 20% to 10% only. It is all just stereotyping.
I was referring to historical accounts by Roman historians. Well as for WWII blondes if that were the cases perhaps there wouldn't have been a drive for ethnic cleansing.
The reality is people over time adapt and homogenize in isolated environments, then they migrate, intermingle, go to war, rape and pillage and mix with each other.
"Something Big"
Perhaps they will come up with a new video with Germans riding Yubtseb elephants mowing down some Romans
Don't forget Yubtseb with steam cannon.
That's in the Expansion "Rome & Beyond the Outer Limits"
Nothing yet...
Well most of the faction reveals came out ~1-3 pm.
They wouldn't do something like and do nothing.
I really hope for a gameplay video and i reckon that if it is a gameplay video it will probably be the Teuteberg forest as it has been mentioned before.
MACEDONIA ETERNAL GREEK KINGDOM
I think, and really hope!!! That it is a Battle of Teutoberg forest, especially if it was like a 10-15 min walkthrough video like we got with Carthage.
Its tomorrow today and nothing yet. It was all an early april fools joke. Damn you CAAAAAAAA!
Well, to me that warrior looks more Gaul than Germanic, and those Roman soldiers lying in the background taking naps are quite surely Pre-Marian, looking from their hamatas, so I doubt it would be Teutoburg.
I might be wrong, though. I am no expert on ancient history.
Yeah, at first I thought it could be Arminius but the guy has blue paint on his face and a torc around his neck and I know the gauls and the celts had torcs but I dont know if germans had them. The armour looks like a mixture of roman/barbarian? Barbarian invasion expansion DLC announcement?
This is cruel, CA! Cruel I tell you!
Before the main game? An expansion? That would be ridiculous
...But then again, I am not in major game business...
