French Cavalry Army

Strictly for Single player campaigns/battles.

Anyone in campaign just fill half their army with the elite French Cav? Once I had Napoleon lead an army of 2 Carabiniers, 4 Grenadiers a Cheval, Empress Dragoons, Polish and Dutch Guard lancers, 5e Regiment of Hussars and the Guard Chasseurs.Fill the rest with howitzers and the best infantry you can and you have an invincible army. Most of my battles with that makeup consisted of me just charging around with my heavy cav and anyone who does make it through gets stared to death by my Old Guard. The only thing limiting the carnage is the slow speed of my cav. I find it way more entertaining than just seeing infantry shoot it out with the few cav units playing fire brigade.

How did that work out in sieges? Cause you know, horses don't fly.

IIRC most cities don't have walls, aye? That wouldn't make it that much of a problem, and with howitzers you can blow up the walls and gates anyway.

Some do however, most notably Venice and any other city that bothers to take its defenses to the maximum level.

what if the ai forms square, shudders.......

Would most likely work better, with a lot of Chasseur a Cheval, with some Artillerie a Cheval, or regular Horse Artillery. along with some Heavy, and Lancer cav.

Just throw all of your cavalry at the unit that uses square or actually give your cavalry some artillery and infantry support.
Square is good if one or so units charge at you but they can't take all of your cavalry units at once.

My just concluded Napoleon Eurpoe campaign have Napoleon himself commanding all elite/DLC units so that makes almost half of the army cavalry. Would love to continue to dominate all of Europe since Prussian and England decided they don't want to be my protectorate anymore and have declared war on me.

I hate when the lap dogs turn on you, quite a nuisance.

Well actually after making Russia my protectorates I have no enemy left and I already won the campaign. I was moving my armies towards Spain when GB land a stack and attack me.
