    Default Best mod add-ons

    What do you expect from your best mod?

    Since the vanilla game doesn't provide a lot of extra things, I wonder what's what make you to choose and play a certain mod.

    For my personal xperience I prefer those add-ins:
    * 4tpy
    * Regional units: I want to have exotic units only from a certain city or region (Italic peninsula, Egypt, etc...), that's a good gift!! (RTR for example)
    * Great number of factions
    * 3 roman families, but whitout SPQR faction. The Senate bores me a lot!
    * Big maps including several choices amongst them. With a good variety of cities and regions also. (Barebones has a lot of them)
    * Increased the number of war machines per unit. I've found stupid to have only 4 scorpions which makes no damage at all and I finally avoid to build more.
    * Good archers and peltasts. Arrows and javelines increased power.
    * Really nice skins, Spartan hoplites e.g. (SPQR ones are great )
    * Weaker cavalry, but with good charging power.
    * Religion as in BI.
    * Religion buildings providing units and/or improves to the normal units.
    * Rebels! Rebels have to be a problem themselves! They have to pursue you, sink your fleet...they have to annoy you!
    * AI intelligence. Expecting a lot of difficulty playing against Carthage, Egypt, Parthia, German, ... and a lot of resistance against Spain, Gaul or another minor cultures.
    * Good sounds and music (I remember Barebones warcry...or SPQR charging music WOW! :happy0144 )
    * No land bridges!Build your fleet!
    * Generals recruitment. To be honest my idea is that you can recruit "minor" generals while great ones come from your family tree.
    * A great number of units to make your army. The perfect recruitment list have to have regular units with low-medium strength, a 3/4 of superior faction units and finally 1 or 2 special ones which are really superb.
    * Color uniform, in some mods I cannot distinguish from your soldiers than enemies ones. I like to see them at a glance.

    Well that's my opinion, pls don't hesitate to comment it and to add your own ideas! Maybe someone will create that mod...someday. [list]

    I would like to nominate Darth: total war since it has the best AI ever and i am auctally in great trouble even trying to survive on VH/VH ^^
    And Rome total realism, i have only played gold and i will install platium as soon as i can...but i think that Darth is better in the sense of having better AI, if rome total realism would adopt the new darth formations then it would be the greatest mod ever

    Ye try DarthMod all the way - superb battle AI Awesome faction specific historical formation (roman manipular, barbarian onslaught, epigonus, alexander's, eastern skirmish, etc.) I've had my a$$ handed to me back many times (esp when you play without pausing the battle). Truly a great mod: it has all of the features you mentioned except: 4tpy; area of recruitment (like in RTR - but Darth has balanced steamroll effect with culture unhapiness and unrest so you can't roll like in vanilla); generals' recruitment (although it's in in DM BI!). Other than that all the other features are in! + all units reskinned using great skinners' work and many new units
    Check DarthMod here and formations here
    Good luck :happy0144
    P.S. Personally I'll be playing this and this only mod untill M2TW comes out :illgetyou

    Hey there,
    SPQR 6.1+ has 4 turns per, also outstanding Sinuhet-formation driven AI, lots of great skins, etc...

    Try it out!

    Wow!

    I've played SPQR for a long time, but I think it's 6.0 version, I'll check 6.1.

    Yesterday I've downloaded RTR Platinum, but I miss some features...which I've added myself. Anyway it's great when you arrive to india and recruit those big elephants!

    Darthmod...I've installed it but I don't remember why I've uninstalled a couple of days later. I'll recheck it.

    I also prefer to have 0time recruitment inside the mod. That's more realistic, because I don't think you can train only a single unit in 3 months...limitations must come from your money (incresing recruits costs) and people (an idea which I've claimed for last MTW)

    I'm waiting for MTW2!!!!!! I presume it would need a huge machine!

    Ok, what's your favourite add-on then?
