AI never accepts alliances

What do I gotta do to make an ally? I have like +150 relations with two clans, they both have no allies but still won't accept my proposal for alliance. Every game, the AI refuses to accept alliance even if I flood them with 20k gold.....

???

It all depends on certain things...though i find the most important is common enemies...making an alliance is much easier if you offer to declare war on one of their enemies...works better then any bribe

The difficulty of course, and the religion. If you play as Cristian it's almost impossible to do alliances, you have to hope that the clan that you want for ally has like 5+ clans in war and you have to declare war to them.

If I'm shinto, I'm guessing it will be hard to make christian allies?

And also try to do marriage with that clan.don't forget that having agents on other territories who are detected will decrease your relationship with that clan. Oh and have also high honor for your Daymo will help a lot.

I'm starting to think my game is bugged, maybe I need to update a patch or its the radious diplomacy mod. Just for testing purposes, I declared war on all enemies of hojo. I did a marriage, i gifted 30k gold, my honor is high, there's a total of +290 relations between our clans yet he doesn't want to ally no matter what. I tried this with another clan and same thing, doesn't want to accept my alliance.

I find relation does not play major role in diplomacy. What I find important is whenever other clan see some advantage in proposal or not. Which is quit realistic. Other clan might hate you but it will agree on trade if it thinks it is profitable enough for them. It might be super friendly but if you have weak military, they will have no problem declaring war on you and take your provinces.

Same goes for alliances. Relation is not most important. It might play some role but not primary one.

I found that regarding making alliances having common enemies and common allies helps. Having common border helps as well. And vice versa. Also their power and your power might count as well. And there might be some other aspects which are hidden.

All in all I find diplomacy in Shogun 2 to be one of the best (most realistic) ever seen in computer game. If not the best. Huge improvement.

Sometimes the AI dont want to ally you because they plan to kill you. If you have possitive relationship however and they do not accept there is something blocking them.
