Default Anyone got some good tips for usiegi clans on hard

I'm struggling as the usiegi clan on hard and trying to get the steam achievement where you have to become shogun on hard difficulty. I need tips on making more money each turn and defeating the bigger clans like Takeda,Hojo, and ikko ikki and other minor clans.

I do use the trading post near the date clan and try to build some trading ports and trade with other clans but I try to destroy jinbo clan fast. I allied up with mogami and ashina clans but they don't really help. once jinbo is gone I try to take hida region but if I don't do it fast then takeda take it and declare war and huge armies appear.

Alot of the clans declare war on me very early and the computer players get big armies so fast and I can't because I would go bankrupt. The computer players do become powerful too fast but haven't seen it become shogunate yet I did ages ago when playing on easy.

Well I just finished my hard campaign and I immediately built my castle to level two(recruit a monk and destroy the temple and build a stables to get early access to light cav), and built a harbor. I then invaded Sado and took the riches of the Island for myself. I allied with Mogami and Ashina clans, whom stayed my allies and helped me a great deal by fighting the enormous Hojo. Just play the game diplomatically, if there are AI alliance blocks pay a clan to break the alliance, so they kill each other not you. Also there is a lot of money to be made by selling ,military access, and demanding money for trade agreements.

I honestly think that bulding your castle up to make it more defencible, (level three) and keeping a strong garrison there is most important. I use ashi armies to win my campaigns, I use 1 gen, 5 or six units of light cav, 2 bow ashi, and the rest yari ashi. Get good at kiting the AI, flanking, and skirmishing and you will punish samurai armies with this setup (It works for me at least).

To commence the battle I use hit and run tactics with my two archers to cause the AI to send out its archers (often poorly defended) and then use my cav (typically on the flanks, with two units behind their army moving about to cause confusion) to kill their archers (a good charge from 2 units of light cav will utterly crush a archer unit) then run your cav away from their reacting melee units, rinse and repeat until you cause the AI to assault your lines, where they run into your spear wall. After they have engaged flank your light cav and crush them (your light cav will get ridiculous amounts of kills, I had a unit get over 600 in a battle).

This is a very inexpensive army, thus you can have more men, and better eco with it. Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks for the reply I'm gonna try to take honma Sado fast then take jinbo next but I need cavalry and I use the monk to increase happiness in settlements so I can move the army out and take another enemy town

I tried this clan too many times and failed a few times takeda have large armies and everyone attacks me and it's not fair so I decided I'm trying another clan instead

Try not to triple post, edit the last one you made. The best thing you can do is never stop producing units. expanding to Fukishima(Ashina) is a popular strategy, and then continue to push north. Another one is to take Sado camp out develop and then push wherever you please.

One time I abandoned my vassal and avoided 4 or 5 wars, instead I invaded Takeda and took their place in Hojo-Imagawa alliance. From there I expanded some of my borders and hit RD as I blitzed the Hojo. The other time I tried the campaign, I made quickly took Sado and conquered north of Japan. I abandoned my vassal too.

I have captured the fukishima region from Ashina clan and now takeda declared war on me and besieged my city echigo with a big army. I did say I would play as a different clan but I'm determined to get better as this clan be great to start off with more money or better diplomatic relations as everyone attacks me and the Satake clan are preparing to as well

How about this buddy, in 12 hours i will upload my Uesugi campaign and weave it in here into this post. So you have some idea of how to move. It will be on Legendary so replicating most of it will just be easier for you

    For a simple advise,
-Capturenorth provinces as soon as you can and do not bother south unless you got invade.
-If Takeda try to invade you, fact it and don't act like chicken, try to defend them as much as you can, you need vassal to survive too so see if you can make vassal in the southern defense line [if possible]
-Eventually, they will ask for a peace, accept it, no question. You need to make south as peace as possible until you dominant the north, then revenge them :p
-Do not explore the map... no matter what.. this seriously, this will make the far west end clans found you and they will coming :p I warn you!
-Do not too aggressive, this result in "unfriendly" to the others so watch carefully, if everyone smile on you, you good to go.
-Build farm everywhere you can, train Matsuke as much as you can and put them in the highest wealth to increase the tax income [the higher "town" skills they have, they better]
-Also watch you food because market cost your food, the bigger the less food so leave it at first tier is very fine, you just need Matsuke and you don't need them every provinces you have... so think carefully before build it.
-The bigger farm you have, the easier you have in late game : ) good luck!
Its easy to make war with others, its never been easy when we need a peace.

My holy damn simple tactic; Strike First, Strike HARD and SHOW NO MERCY.

Loot first few provinces to give you a big economic boost, then dispose of your dishonorable Uesegi Kenshin. Thats how I started my legendary campaign...

You dont need the monastery after you recruited the first monk. It is important to get Ninjas and wealth early on. Later on when you go for warrior monks you recruit them elsewhere anyway. In Legendary you should not Ally Ashina or Mogami it serves no purpose. It is more important to secure Fukuishima early on than it is to secure Sado. I do both tho.

Barely any loot money to be had. And with the military access money, it is more profitable to just secure and develop. I somewhat doubt that you started out looting every province in a Legendary campaign since it would be very unpractical and cause massive unrest. While the AI keeps building up. Honor is also inherited to some extent.
