CTD on Load (Also Empire & Napoleon too!)
Hi all, wondered if anyone could help me with a bothersome issue.
I've been playing a bit of Shogun 2 lately, without trauma. I fancied getting into a bit of Empire, which I'd not played in a while. I tried to load it last night, and got a CTD when loading the campaign, however this was due to Darthmod being installed and not activated correctly. It then worked, and I played for a few hours, no trouble
I get to my computer this evening, wanting to play a bit more Empire, and I get the same issue, but this time Darthmod is all installed properly. I decided to install Napoleon instead (completely fresh install), and the same thing happens whenever I try to start a campaign. Starting to get annoyed, I then tried Shogun, only that did not even get past the first loading screen. I'm at a loss as to what's going on here! It doesn't seem to be my Steam, as I tried a couple of other games, which are running no problem, and apart from the Total War series, my computer seems to be behaving perfectly normally.
Has anybody ever experienced this? They just seem to have spontaneously stopped working. Any help would be great.
Many thanks!

I tried both Empire and Shogun2 this morning with no problems but I do not have DarthMod installed on either one.
Have you tried verifying the game cache of each?
Have you tried vanilla instead of using DarthMod?
Napoleon, did you be sure both Napoleon folders were deleted before installing?

Hi Irishron, thanks for your reply.
I checked all which you said, and nothing seemed to work...
However, I got to my computer last night, and ran Vanilla Empire BEFORE running Darthmod.... and it worked? So then I tried Darthmod, and it worked also, as did Shogun and Napoleon. Upon further tests, I've established that if I try to run Darthmod - Empire, then for some reason it bu**ers (Is that a forbidden word?!) up all of my Total Wars (Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2). Running Vanilla Empire, however and then running DM-E works fine though. Haven't tested it with running either N:TW or S:TW2 first, however this is most odd!
Just thought I'd add that, if anybody else is having the same trouble. I may try re-installing Darthmod and seeing if that fixes the minor annoyance of having to load the game twice!
Many thanks,

Do you have about 30gb+ of free disc space on C: drive?
With Darth using larger unit sizes, the swapfile maybe running you our of disc space to run it. This would also explain why it does not happen in vanilla.

Good point - no, my C: drive is running on pretty dire straights at the minute. I'll free some space up.
Many thanks!
