Baron de Clare and his bodyguards travel south to Palermo to meet his former employer and Norman Cousins on behalf of the Crusading English Army
Low speed, High Drag
Arriving at Palermo the Baron was lead up into the keep, after a short wait he was presented to Adelaide del Vasto, Regent of Sicily.
de Clare bows and says
del Vasto, it has been along time. I come here bearing news that my lord, the King of England has come on crusade to take the Isle of Malta then sail on to Tunis. He requests your support in this venture or at least your blessing
Low speed, High Drag
Adelaide brushed back her hair from her face and smiled at the Baron.
"My son Simon already rules in Malta, so I don't see why you'd crusader there... As for Tunis, it is a hot bed of choas between Emir Tamin ibn al-Muizz and the invading Banu Hilal. A crusade could be wildly successful if striking quickly, though it could also be a catastrophic failure, the region is volatile."
OOC: Lol declare and Adelaide are about the same age, maybe hes a bit older but very close. Would I inherit or get control of Sicily if I married her with the Normans inheritance laws
de Clare smiles back and says
Forgive me madam, but your beauty is the same as I remember
Now, with this conflict between the Nomands and Emir, who is winning, perhaps we could keep this campagin going and play the infidels off against eachother. Also, we could perhaps engage in some misdirection and say the Crusade is intended for Cyrene or Egypt to both catch the infadels in Tunis unaware and to make things easier for our cousins in the Holy Land by forcing the Egyptian armies to go on a wild goose chace
Also, would you and your Realm wish to support this invasion. My king and most of the lords we leave, but you are in the best postion to administer some lands.
Low speed, High Drag
OOC: Lol Simon her son is count she is just acting as regent.
"Hmm I don't think it would be prudent to engage my young sons realm and resources in a potentially wasteful endeavour"
Adelaide let that statement hang in the air for a moment while she thought.
"But perhaps I could be persuaded when or if your King arrives and I can see Englands resolve for myself."
