I don't think games use much anymore except HD space.

No joke, I am literally going to have buy a new PC to run this game.

That sucks Sharpe. I have no money either and my pc is going to imitate a toaster when I try and play the 10,000 vs 10,000 battles. Don't buy a new pc just yet, the game might be a turd.

Well the game is a certain buy for me. I'm going to wait until the last moment to buy a PC so hopefully the hardware prices will drop as they release new gear in the summer.

    Not happening brah

    Current CPU: 2600k @ 3.40 GHz
    Current GPU: GTX 560

    Expected CPU: 2600k @ 4.00 GHz
    Expected GPU: GTX 670

I hope new consoles come out before Rome 2 does (very possible, especially if CA delays) so that PC hardware prices will drop more. I'm also planning on picking up a water cooler (or at least a much better fan) so I can overclock my CPU. I've heard people getting their 2600 up to 3.8 on stock, anyone in this forum have experience with this?

3.8 may be a bit optimistic. I've seen 2500k's around that, but I'd run an aftermarket cooler if going any higher...

Same here. I'm currently running everything on a GTX280. It handles everything I throw at it, including S2, although I can't take advantage of DX11 features and anything above Medium settings gets pretty choppy during large engagements.

The problem isn't just upgrading the card though. I need a new processor, which means a new motherboard, plus I need to upgrade my OS too. It all adds up to quite a tidy sum, which I really can't afford right now.

I'm getting my PC off pcspecialist.co.uk. Looks like quite a good deal and you can piece it totally together.

I've been doing abit of market research for the last 6-9months or so now as i am going to build my own PC for Rome 2, and from what iv looked at PC specialist are the most expensive. Aria PC seems to be best for price, and you get to pick the make of all the components aswell so you can get the good ones. Also my mate in work, has built a few PC's and his dad used to do it as a business and this is the site they have always used.

so far i have just purchased 8gb of corsair vengance ram.

    what my planned spec is

    Intel i5 3570k
    8gb ram
    1tb hdd
    125gb ssd
    650/700w psu
    amd radeon hd 7870
    with motherboard and case etc.

Pricing this spec up in Aria it comes to around £600/£700 at the moment so in hoping closer to end of year when Rome is released it will be down a bit lower.

    Cosair 850 AX powersupply
80 Gb intel 320 MLC SSD

I must be one of the only people on TWC that isnt that great with technology haha. I would have no idea how to build a computer although I do need a new one for Rome2.

O I have no idea. I'm going to stalk the tech forums closer to the time to get the knowledge.

I built my computer just for R2, i dont remember the specific.
A friend of mine recommended the parts and I just assembled them, he DID recommend me to get i7 but I was pushing my budget as it was and asked him if it would really make a difference at this point and he answered "yes and no, if you get i7 you're load time would be almost zero but game and performance wise you should not feel any difference".

anyways what do the tech savvy think?

It would appear you have almost the ideal gaming build. The CPU and GPU are some of the best around at the moment so you'll be well away with all the latest games, including Rome 2
