Legion Eagle

How do u get the legionary eagle, the Marius reforms happened and i had all the legions rome can get but no eagle. I ended up beating the game but with no legionary eagle.

Rome's the only city in the vanilla game afaik that can create first cohorts. It's with the first cohorts you get the legionnary eagle. So capture Rome, then build some first cohorts and you've got yourself an eagle.

i did that but i didnt get a legionary eagle.

Are you able to train First Cohorts? Or did you just conquer Rome...?

Not sure because I haven't played vanilla in a very long time but maybe you need a royal barracks in Rome in order to train first cohorts.

i took all of italy and could make early legionary cohort, legionary cohort, preatorion, and urban cohort.

In Vanilla, Rome is the only city that can recruit Legionary First Cohorts. You need Rome and Urban narracks to recruit them.

What effect does the eagle actually have?

Do units from non-Roman factions get eagles? If so, which units?

i think the eagle just rise the morale on the battlefield

It will generally say whether a unit is equipped with the legionnary eagle or not in a unit's description. The eagle inspires nearby troops (of the same side). You can steal the eagles...not sure how. Some people have suggested that you have to destroy the entire enemy unit that has the eagle. Then the Romans get really mad and want a 'little word' with you

Yep that's right. The eagle you conquer, will be taken to a settlement of yours. The Romans will then try to regain it by attacking this settlement (or lets say chance that they attack this city is higher). If there still is a Senate, it will order the Roman faction which lost the eagle to recover it.
