The original Wickerman, HERE, is an amazing film, though very few have even heard of it. It' doesnt really fit into any one genre, so its hard to classify it, but if you're a Chrstopher Lee fan you'll love it trust me.

Now comes this remake. I want this to be good but I'm very worried. The trailer, HERE , isnt bad but I cant get over this PG-13 rating. The original was R for a reason. I guess the pagans in this version took down the "clothing is optional beyond this point" sign heh. That beautiful scene where Willow is seducing Sergeant Howie with her song, totally nude, can in no way be in this version with a PG-13. And the ending? Well, lets just say they better not ****ing change it! The original ending is one of the best I've seen. Depending on who you are as a person it will effect you differently. Some are shocked, some love it and others are sad.

So has anyone else seen the Wickerman? If you have please do not give out any spoilers and/or ruin the ending for those who havent. =)

Why do you want a remake to be good? Remakes aren't even worth noticing, usually.

Well why would I want it to be bad? I cant stop them from making it so all you can do is hope for the best. I agree remakes suck for he most part, but you can always hope.

Yeah it's a hard film to find. I have the special edition that comes in a wooden box, pretty cool stuff. It has two cuts of the movie, the U.S. theatrical cut and an extended one. Same as this one Here .

Yeah the trailer looks decent, and I heard Cage was a big fan of the original, I just cant see them pulling it off with a PG-13 rating is all.

    Are you in the US?

Ironically enough, it was given away for free with the Guardian newspaper sometime last year, so i got my copy for less than £1, with a free newspaper thrown in! :happy0144

    Its great to be British!

As for the remake... They've made the Lord Summerisle character into a woman, which is surely not a good sign.
But, its got Nicholas Cage in it, and he usually makes half decent movies. Think i'll wait till this one is out to rent.

The trailer looks dreadful. Americanising the concept is a bad idea, in my opinion. The original gained some of its charm for being completely Scottish, with the exception of half the actors But it won't transfer well to an American environment, not to mention that Nick Cage hasn't got a patch on Edward Woodward. The rating is a joke, and it doesn't have Chris Lee. It seems to replace the original's creeping and slow realisation concept for a typical American scare-movie. They already butchered the classic Japanese horror films, now they're breaking the best British one.

    It'll suck.

The original's brilliant though, still the coolest psychological horror I've seen.

Hopefully it will be a decent film unlike those horrid Japanese remakes

there have been a few good remakes but for the majority they are terrible or worse this strikes me as another of those simply because the orginal was great

The really sad thing is that there has been an idea for a sequel to the original floating around for years. The script was called "May Day", Christopher Lee said he'd do it and Ewan McGregor was also onboard, since he was such a huge fan of the original. But I guess funding for it fell through, I cant really remember what killed it.
