I saw this thread and thought, I wonder if I can find any obvious historical inaccuracies.
So I looked through the screenshots and found this:




This seems to show Carthage being attacked by submarines, giant laser-eyed spiders and a UFO. This is quite inaccurate and so I will not buy a single PC game ever again.

The Submarines clearly belong to Carthage. You can even see the Roman Ships try to Ram them.

I urge all decent, God-fearing, historical accuracy purists to boycott this game! True, I've bought every single Total War game since the original Shogun but this time I MEAN IT!!! I'd picket outside their UK office and take the fight to THEM, but I can't do that anymore because most CA staff put out restraining orders against me after Empire came out. They are completely dismissive of fans who simply want historical accuracy that they spurned my help when I followed Jack Lusted home one night and stuffed his mail slot with several hundred helpful scanned pages from Osprey.

And if you zoom in really close, you can see clearly see that soldiers' clothing is horrendously inaccurate! Everybody knows Roman tunics during the Third Punic War had a 175 thread count. Well guess what? I used a professional-quality image enhancer and counted every single thread when I paused the trailer. CA is giving those tunics a 178 thread count! 178!!! I had another panic attack! That's eight times this month! I know nobody's going to pay attention because they're busy commanding their armies and actually having fun. That's because they're traitors who spit on their Western heritage and who despise courage, manhood, and civilization!

Just thinking about this makes me so upset that I want to jump into a bubble bath and cry...

Personally, I am thoroughly disgusted by this paradoxical thread as I have no idea what it is about..It almost seems like a multi-layered satirical (self?) parody of an impromptu creative Photoshop brainstorm that has been infiltrated by dissembling chaos anarchists for the hell of it!
BUT...
If CA wish to include some obscure, blue, tiny, tribe led by some red-haired Virago then that is their prerogative!
I’ve nothing against the Smurfs...
In fact, they’ve been my favourite faction since “Total Europa Realism Surrectum.P.Q.R.” which I played before even Rome: Total War was invented.
What I do begrudge, is the unpredictable, cheapshot, hypocrites who try to undermine CA’s credibility and efforts at historical accuracy BY PHOTOSHOPPING IN FACTIONS LIKE THE ICENI into their faction previews just for some obscure laughs or because they wanna see the world burn.
These misfits should take their satirical Opportunism elsewhere!

I've actually been avoiding this thread because it was so long, I assumed some sort of stupid, meaningless argument had broken out.

I was wrong though. It's just a reasonable, sane thread bringing up serious issues that need to be addressed, and once AGAIN, CA completely avoids it.

Sigh. When will they learn that we, the TWC community, clearly are always right, about everything, and that we know far more than they do about making video games, history, and running a company?

I'd like to interject here for a moment and ask a pertinent question. Has anyone ever actually complained about "sandals" in regards to a total war game before, or is this just some sort of exaggeration for the sake of making a point? I, for one, would rather like to see this sandals rant if it exists anywhere since it sounds so trivial and pointless as to make for completely awesome reading. If this has been answered already, please forgive me, I am merely curious of course.
