    Default Agents

CA said every faction *or culture* will have their own set of agents. That's cool and all, but i hope they are not just a similar agent with a different name and texture that does the same thing as a similar agent of other factions.

Also, diplomats should return on Rome II. But they will work different than on RTW. For example, you are still able to enter the diplomacy menu like on Shogun, but sending a diplomat directly to the opposite faction will often have better results, because they are diplomats and that's their job.

This is my idea of agents on Rome II.

Agents all factions will have. *most likely CA will give them different names and textures.*

    1. Assassin.

    2. Diplomat

    3. Spy.

    Roman Agents

    1. Tribune. I am sure Senatorial elections and magistrate office will be in-game. But the tribune will also be a recruitable agent. They act similar to Metsuke on Rome II.

    2. Legatus. With the inclusion of Legions, this agent will play an important role. A legion with a legatus will peform better than a legion without on. Also expect xp bonuses as well as morale bonuses. Also a legion with a legatus has a higher chance on foiling assassinations and espionage.

    3. Female Assassin *similar to the live action video. This assassin is also unique because she can kill members of the same faction. So you can kill those that conspire against you, or the opposite.*

Greco-Roman Agents *only greek and roman factions will be able to recruit this one.*

    1. Philosopher. This one will enhance culture as well as public order. Also if put in an army, it will be harder to bribe that army.

    Greek Agents.

    1. Strategos *Similar to the Legatus.*

    Gallic/German/Briton agents

    1. Druid. A religious as well as military agent.

    Carthaginian Agents

    1. Merchant *yup, being descendant of the phoenicians they will have merchants to enhance trade and productions.*

Of course my list is somehow incomplete and it feel pro-roman. But let's face it, when it comes to agents, Rome will get more than the other factions.

On the faction wiki it states "Each faction brings unique commercial, military and political strengths, its own agents and political system". So it sounds like, as you mentioned, each faction will have unique agents. I hope they go quite in depth with this. I loved the foreign officers in FOTS. Really added a nice level of immersion knowing a British officer was behind those peasants mowing down the forces of the Shogun.

Travelling markets - That would be a great agent to have. You could go to neutral and allied armies and sell them goods at a user-designated price so they can replenish and you can make money.

I hated agents as they were. If there be diplomats again like that, than I would rather have an option of sending ambasador to strengthen ties and merchant convoy next to regular "Trade Agreement". Also I dont want to track them on the map as before. But having updates as your agent is currently moving across seas towards his mission and than turn or two later you get update.

Too many agents, just annoying. I am not saying not to have them, i just want to avoid tracking them on the map constantly and "your agent cant move, there is character or army in his way". WTF! If I have to move him, than give me userfriendly UI for agents, where is mini map, nations where i want to send him and why. Same for assasin. I want some character dead, i dont want to have track my assasin around the map, send him on boat and follow his evry step. I want another character dead, I click on the character, choose from my availble agents. Have certain timeframe I want deed done and depending on agent skills, how i want it done.

I want to have that awsome feeling as a ruler we had in first shogun and medieval. There must be easier and more satisfying way of dealing with one's agents than they are now. Also having 20 years to pass, so my agent moves from one point to another is just annoying. If we are going to have old system of diplomacy with agents, give us ability to execute them...our own and foreign.

I'd prefer having only 1 agent of each type per 10 regions or something. Shogun 2 had far too many agents available and made agents an entire game in itself and not in a good way as it took long time to move all of them and deal with that part of game while adding another dimension AI sucked at and player always could exploit better.

I really like Gazi's idea. We have a pool of agents that we've recruited, and we can send them on missions. We have more important things to worry about, after all, than to worry "how" an agent gets something done, only "if" it gets done. Far away missions can take a long time to complete without us having to move them around every turn.

The only downside I see to this is that there is no more of the "agent vs agent" minigame since they wouldn't be on the map, but like Ichon I never found that particularly fun anyway.

Agreed, Agents should be dispatched from the place they were recruited, rather than being movable units on the map

    1. Who could it be? He has 'manica' (armor type) on his hand. Roman hero or a veteran?

    2. He looks like a veteran or a famous Greek hero. He is wearing a Corinthian helmet from the 5th century BC.

    3. She is a woman... Hmmm

    4. He can be a scout from Nubia...

    5. He's a spy. I'm sure only him.

    What are your opinions?

There's a champion agent now that buffs some of your army stats.

Spy and/or assassin, as he seems to be carrying a dirk. The first four might also be the same type of agent but from 4 different factions.

I'd rather you had a host of characters with a ton of potential abilities at different levels and you basically RPG'd them all.

You should have five families per faction (Like in Crusader Kings Republics/the Mafia). You're the main family and you've got a Patriarch and a Matriarch and the whole family, male and female and more interestingly they have their retinues of lesser characters.

So if you want to assassinate someone you click the guy you want and based on how much cash/influence/favor he's got and how shady he is then he spends some because he "knows a guy who knows a guy" via his retinue and then you go through the assassination fail or success in a given number of turns automatically. You use your minor characters to influence events. So if your guy has one assassin in his retinue that's his only Sicarius he can use. If he's got all eight slots as assassins or spies he's probably going to be some sort of spymaster figure with a host of useful traits and some really bad ones. After all, if you hang around with hired killers and thieves you're probably not Mr popular.

So if you're playing as the Romans you have the Five Families: Valeria, Cornelia, Julia, Aemilia, and Claudia. If you're Julii you might be allies with Claudia and enemies with Cornelia and Aemilia and neutral towards Valeria. Internal and external enemies. If things get too hot you might become enemies. If things get too cool you might end up neutral. If things are just right you'll be allies.

If you're on good terms with everyone you'll never be able to truly seize power but you'll be stable and united against foreign obstacles.

This topic is a few months old. It doesn't seem like there are unique agents per faction, which is fine with me if they are customizable enough with traits and upgrades. Plus factions will probably have inherent bonuses anyway, so if a faction was historically good at trade, then they will have that bonus anyway when the game starts, making a unique merchant agent (e.g.) redundant.

All of the agents shown in those screenshots are the champion type, except for the last one which is a spy.
The female agent is definitely the female champion for the Galatians.
