so confused?

I haven't played medieval total war in over 2 years. i'm pretty sure i completely uinstalled the game and kingdoms (expansion) could be wrong but i'm pretty sure i did. i installed medieval total war 2. and all of my old saves was in my fresh install of the game. same with kingdoms.... can anyone shed some light because i'm so confused its not even funny.

This is probably your answer. Most games ask if you want to keep your save games after you uninstall, just in case you change your mind. The save games stay in the same directory they were before, but the other game files get deleted. As long as you reinstall to the same directory, the game should be able to find your old saves.

In those 2 years, did you reinstall your Windows at some point? If yes, congratulations! You've just witnessed a miracle.

It's probably that you never deleted/uninstalled the stuff left in {{Your Name}}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War. Your AppData directory is usually hidden. You can unhide it by going to Control Panel, then Security, then going to Show Hidden Files and Folder and switching from "Do Not Show Hidden Files and Folders" to "Do Show ..." At least, that's how it works with Vista. I'm not sure about other stuff. I think that M2TW's install-shield program sometimes doesn't know about VirtualStore directories?
