Default Question about Medieval 2 Mods

i'm new to mods with medieval 2, i'm normally a hardcore rome 1 fan. anyways

i've been browsing for the coolest mods but i'm not sure which ones i want hopefully someone can help point me in the right direction for some rep++.

i'm looking for a mod that adds realism towards blood or blood appearance, something that adds diversity in the game. i looked at broken crescent and was intrigued but it's too middle east based, and i'm more into europe. a mod that adds new factions would be nice, new units, new maps, 0 turn campaigns would be nice. higher morale for units. if anyone has played eb or roma surrectum 2 for rome those are the kinda mods i'm looking for. any ideas? thanks

I can suggest Thera mod, they add elements of both Historical and Fantasy. There is a roman faction with awesome Roman units there is cool pirate faction with great rifle units. It's faction cover many eras from medieval, to roman era to 17th century

Stainless steel is probably what you want, it comes highly recommended by most on the forum with an expanded map to the east and many more playable factions. It also improves the game in many aspects. If you are looking for completely new map try Thera or custom campaign mod 2.

You also need 6.3 for 6.4 to run.

The coolest mod is Third Age: Total War, it has totally different maps and units with high morale, too. It is the only mod with custom settlements. You can play as any faction (including dwarves, Easterlings etc) , fight the Balrogs, find the One Ring, and is beautifully made. Don't remember seeing the blood thing but I expect you can add it.

It is beautiful, but the gameplay is awful.
The AI get scripted full stacks, scripted garrison, loads of money, but it is not actually smarter.
This leads to You defeating numerous stacks per turn, against the never ending AI hordes.
It gets dull and boring very fast.

For comparison, Thera or Broken Crescent is much better in this regard: the AI gets help, but it doesn't get dull.

That's true, but there are submods that change the AI to your liking. Go get Third Age if you're a fan of LOTR, Broken Crescent if you like the Middle East and Thera if you like everything, because, well, it has everthing. From natives to Romans, knights to Uruks, Renaissance to Islam, and Japanese to Viking. And a whole lot in between.

Well if TATW gets boring then you must be playing one of the overpowered factions like the Elves. Playing as the Dwarves on VH/VH was a nail-biting existence as although I didn't have to fight multiple stacks it took a long time to recruite troops and every battle I was horribly outnumbered and often had little or no cavalry. I had some absolutely fantastic battles and had to use every trick possible (a lot of ambushes) to win. Having to defeat multiple hordes of Sauron's troops is what I would expect, it is well within the spirit of the story.

Try the Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod, it's one the best, Eras Total Conquest is THE MOD, you can play various campaigna from 970 to 1547, each with theri own factions, or if you want just a little vanilla upgrade try the Custom Campaign mod, as it not only adds the units from Kingdoms but also has playable Papal States, Aztecs, Mongols, Timurids and Rebels, and also has a custom campaign wich is very fun, togheter wiht smaller campaigns with sections of the vanilla map, very fun.
