    Well, if you have no priest, one option is to surround the heretic on all sides with 1 army troops,

    111
    1H1
    111

    1 = Troop
    H = Heretic.

    Once you do this, simply move another guy into the middle, and the heretic will die.
    It's an exploit though.

    I totally love that exploit, since I knew the existence of it never stopped using it. You may all throw junk at me now :p. boooo
    Cassius: "Our men at arms have secured the city. We've received representatives from all the best elements. The senate is with us, the knights are with us."
    Brutus:"The pontifs, the urban cohorts, the lictors guild..."
    Antony: "Oh, the lictors guild, very good. Only rally the bakers and the flute players and you can put on a festival."

    Bishops/Cardinals/Patriachs given enough attempts will usually kill one. Assassins are faster but also take awhile and some money to train up. Pagan and Muslim factions have only the box exploit or assassins far as I know.

    The only problem with that, is that for me, all of my priests suddenly decide Heresy is the right way to go after trying to convert the people just a turn ago.

    Don't use normal priests- bishops/cardinals/patriarchs should be immune to being turned to heresy. Otherwise normal priests even with theologians guild and abbey can often fall into heresy if it is widespread just from converting the population. If you see your priests piety declining send them off into your enemies lands.

    Lithuanian pagan priests can target heretics (low chances of success though), and the high priests from temple upgrades are immune from becoming heretics themselves if they fail.
