Hey guys. So I play a lot of Call of Warhammer, or more accurately, the Rage of Dark Gods version released by Gigantus, and I also play a lot of Third Age. In this mod, the Warhammer one, cavalry responds with lightning quickness. They maneuver around infantry easily, charge in and out very effectively, and generally just feel very good to use.
In Third Age, this is not the case. Using Imrahil and his Swan Knights for example, he moves slow. Like, almost absurdly slowly. I have actually seen him slowly wheel around, slowly begin to charge, and then move so goddamn slowly while charging that his charge finished BEFORE HE ACTUALLY HIT THE UNIT HE WAS CHARGING.
I've been staring at the EDU for both mods, and trying to figure out what it is that makes units in Call of Warhammer so much more responsive than units in Third Age, but I don't know what it is. It's not just cavalry, but all units are simply more responsive in that mod, than in this one. Continuing to use Imrahil as an example, I removed the move_speed_mod from the Swan Knights. It was set below 1.0, which I assume means they move slower than the base speed. While that did help their actual movement speed, it didn't increase their responsiveness by much. Or at least not noticeably.
So what's the deal? Can anyone help with this? I'm cross-posting this in the Third Age forum as well. I hope this isn't against any rules, as in me making a post constantly referencing another mod. I'm just trying to figure out why units feel so much better to use in this mod, than they do in the Third Age mod. Does it have anything to do with the formations, maybe? I don't think it has anything to do with Heavy vs Light cavalry or anything, because most of the Empire cavalry in Warhammer are heavy, and are very responsive...
Thanks for reading, and I'd appreciate any help/suggestions.
