Issue when installing from disk

So I haven't played this game in a while, but I'd thought I'd give it a try again. I tried installing from disk ( I know how to do it) but it doesn't work right. It installed the 1st disk in 3 minutes and then asked for the 3rd which took a few seconds. After that, I tried to hit play, but the game started downloading from steam. I think I read somewhere else that they updated this game's file structure so the CD's are obsolete? Is that what is wrong? If not, then what?

Another question, I did download the entire thing last night from steam (my internet connection must be good, only took an hour) I tried to play it, but it said it needed to update. 3 of the updates could not because they said windows was trying to install another update, which it wasn't. What is the problem there too?

The installer that came with the discs is superceded by the one on Steam. Nothing we can do about his one but yell a lot.

When was the last time you did play, approximate month and year?

The last time I played actually was about a month after it came out!

Too much has changed since then including the release of the Rise of the Samurai of which also introduced awesomium and its conflict with Google Chrome, Adobe Flash for the Encyclopedia, and Fall of the Samurai.

Ad the last update was named Optimized.pack but it's still giving some members fits to say the least.

Do you have Chrome installed? Some have gotten by with it installed but not many.
Check your computer including the registry for incredbar and uninstall/delete all traces if found.
