Has anyone ever successfully sent the one ring to the black gate?

I'm sort of new to third age; i played medieval 2 without mods a lot. But anyway, I'm playing as isengard and i recently got a message that i have 25 turns to deliver the one ring to the black gate. It's really hard to do this so far because the general I'm sending is constantly getting attacked by rohan; so far, retreating is working but i hope it remains that way. The message also said i would be deeply rewarded if i do this which sounds very good. However, I saw this one guy on youtube try this, and the game glitched out (i think) and his time was up before 25 turns, which caused an invasion on him. Was this done on purpose? like is it even possible to get it sent? and if so, what happens when it gets there? whats the reward? and isnt that supposed to be the end of the game if the ring is found and brought to mordor? because what else do the evil factions need if they have the ring?

Delivering the Ring will give Mordor Sauron-unit, which is definitely one of the strongest units in the game (Sauron can kill almost 1500 men with ease). If you do so, you will get a HUGE amount of money AFAIK, but if you don't do this, then all evil factions will wage war on you. Also if you're a good faction, and you get The Ring, but will keep it for yourself... well, then that's Middle-Earth against you.

When Mordor gets the Ring they get Sauron incarnate who is pretty badass. Personally i wouldn't take it there as Isengard but i have a feeling that if you don't, eventually it gets 'lost' and then will end up in Sauron's hand and at that stage (if the invasion hasn't ended you) then you will be on his bad side and have to deal with his unholy self in battle.

Yes, it's possible; I've done it several times. You have to be prepared, you can't simply send the ring bearer alone. After all, one does not simply walk into Mordor. You need an army, or two.

really? im sending him alone and hes now too close to wait for any additional units... so does that mean this wont be possible now? because if this fails im definitely not going to contunue with all of them against me like that.... why cant i hire mercenaries??

if you are passing through Rohan/Gondor lands you wont be able to recruit mercenaries as the only mercenaries around there are Rohan/Gondor troops (and even they are rare) who wont fight for evil.

Same if you are passing through elven/dwarven lands.

I dont think there are any mercenaries around in Isengard or Mordor lands.

and if you are in harad or Rhun lands, then you ahve a very bad sense of direction and no chance of getting mercs.

On two occasions gollum stole the ring from me, as Eriador and Silvan Elves. God is it a nuisance especially when your about two turns away from entering the Plain of Gorgoroth.

It's a script that fires every time the ringbearer is selected on the campaign map. Keeping him in army with a better general will prevent him from being selected, therefore Gollum can't steal the ring.

If you play as Mordor and get the ring... be aware!
Put always at least one spy into Saurons army!
My Sauron was assasinated after 2 or 3 turns...

As mordor i managed to... They had the ring in rivendel... I took a large army from mirkwood.. Marched over the misty mountains and leveled rivendel with onagers and trolls... I then managed to get sauron who came as three.. He lead my army for 20 or so turns before i quit the campaign
