    Default Designing an army

Congratulations! you have been selected to take part in the designing of the Mori Daimyo's glorious army.

now to explain... I have played through 11 factions at this point, each fields a different, specifically designed army for their Daimyo, based on their strengths and DLC units...but as Mori lack a bonus, I have not decided on anything for that campaign...so, if you can design the army i select, you get +rep. (if only for fun otherwise)

    and here are the requirements:

Must include DLC unit (Wako Raiders)
Must, if possible, seem "fitting" to the Mori "style"
Must be high quality (Little or no Ashigaru)
No more then 4 units of cavalry
No more then 5 unit types (Daimyo is automatically counted, and thus excluded from this)
Must be a full stack of 19 + Daimyo

I hope to see some interesting things...if not, oh well, worth a try.

Sometimes I argue in favor of things i don't necessarily believe for the sake of a good argument. ( #51 )

And sometimes i argue in favor of things because i believe in my argument. ( #16 )

8 Mori wako raiders. 4 naginata 6 bow samurai general + a Yari cavalry. Use the Mori wako raiders to flak in the begining of every battle. and the 4 naginata and bow in a defensive posture. You can only get armor/melee attack upgrades for the Mori wako raiders at Satsuma(Shimazu) or Iwate(Date). So i suggest producing them with +3 morale from Aki and armorer for 2+ armor.

Interesting, I will give it a crack

    • x1 Daimyo
    • x4 Naginata Samurai
    • x3 Katana Samurai
    • x1 Katana Samurai Hero
    • x1 Wako Raider
    • x3 Bow Samurai
    • x2 Matchlock Warrior Monks
    • x2 Yari Cavalry
    • x1 Great Guard
    • x2 Fire Projecting Mangonels
This makes a great army, especially in seige assaults. It has a good anti-cavalry component as well as a spectacular melee contingent. The missile corpse is to die for, combining bows, guns, and raining fire to absolutely raze your opponents. The cavalry is for crushing hammer-anvil strikes and moral shocking flank charges, and no AI cavalry can compete. I suggest using the Wako Raider as a unit to disrupt enemy missile units or ambushing generals.

In keeping with the spirit of a naval power, I'd imagine their army to be very offensive-centric, as they would need fast, hard-hitting troops to launch a coastal assault from their boats. Of course, the most common weapons for their marines would likely be the yari or the naginata, as their longer reach is more effective for fighting boat to boat. However, the katana is also useful for close-quarters boarding action. Bows and matchlocks were both used in great numbers aboard ships. Yari cavalry would, I think, should be used more than the katana cavalry simply because of their massive charge bonus. You could go either way with artillery, because on one hand they're slow, and may bog down an otherwise rapid assault force. On the other hand, they would provide excellent covering fire for troops storming a fortification. Overall, I would use a combined-arms force, but with an emphasis on offence, to fit the style of a naval power.

    Mori rooster - "Crushing Waves"
Divide your forces in 5 "divisions", each one consist of 4 units. (Each division consists of one unit type so your limit of no more than 5 unit types is here)

1st Division "Harbringers of Storm" [Position them well (due to kisho training), waiting either for moment when enemy is distracted by your main force and then wreak havoc upon his flanks/back, or use any opportunity to deal some damage (lonely spear units etc.)
    4 units of Wako Riders

    2nd Division "Storm Crows"
4 units of Warrior Monk Archers/Bow Samurai (preferable monks) - use their range advantage to lower enemy range threat, pepper some troublesome units (like heroes etc.), if possible use whistling arrows to lower enemy strength.

    3rd Division "(Another Cheesy Name)"
4 units of Yari Samurai - their role is to be the flexible, quick reaction force, to react either on cavalry threat or swiftly draw into melee fight enemy units (due to rapid advance). Rapid Advance has also usage during prolonged melee due to fact that while ability is on their stamina is locked to Fresh.

    4th Division "(Cheesy sth)"
4 units of Katana Samurai - damage dealing unit, nothing to explain. Could be replaced for more risky/rewarding option with No-Dachi Samurai, however in that case you must be more aware at all the time (enemy charges should be avoided at all costs, not to mention that armor value of 2 means even basic bow ashigaru will decimate them).

5th Division "Hatamoto" (in meaning of the bannerman) - personal daimyo bodyguards and his reserves. Remember when facing spear heavy formations you can dismount them (spear > cavalry but sword > spear).
    Mori
    3 units of Katana Cavalry

My language skills are pretty rusty, so in any case of grammar and/or spelling mistakes let me know.
