Default The Death of Honor incarnate.

After a futile search in Kings Landing, Ramiel Greystark fell ill. Now a few months later, his fever has yet to break and only worsened. Here at the end of his days, Ramiel Greystark lies. He once dreamed of a life of honor and loyalty. He lived that life, but it was filled with disappointment, sorrow. For all he has done, the North is still shunned, his family still disregarded.

Anthony kneels by the mans side. He had been s father to poor Anthony. When Rickton disappeared North of the wall it had been Ramiel that helped him in his early days as lord. "Rameil you could never fail me." There are tears in his eyes. It hurt to see his friend and mentor reduced to such a state.

Do not cry, my son. I am old and worn, I have lived a life I could have only hoped for. Kilgore will serve you well. He is an honorable boy and smarter at politics than I pretend to be. Rhalion will balance him out for you. His severity may grow when I pass, he may feel like he must in order to replace me. The guards that were your brothers, I sent the head of them to the wall and punished the others accordingly. I feel as I do not have long Anthony. My duty at Moat Cailin was not left undone however. The fort thrives like it perhaps never has. Ramiel said slowly.

He felt the need to affirm his work, since he failed his other task.

"I don't know if I'm ready Rameil. The comet burns Ted and the North is disgraced. I don't know what to do. I need you." He says taking the old mans hand.

You stay strong Anthony. the North will need that strength. You care, and you put your people FIRST. The North will not bow to a man that does not have their best interest at heart, Stark or not. You must Listen, to those you consider your counsel, but never forget, the decisions you make are yours. Not theirs. You may not have me, but my son will do you well. He is a smart man, smarter than I was at his age. Ramiel said with glint in his eyes.

The road would be hard, but Anthony....Kilgore.....They had to make it work

"I know it's just te entire Worlds eems to be going to hell that comet. It is blood red. The dragons seem to be ready to tear at each otheres throats. If I join one of them The North will bleed. If I stay out of it they might consider me a traitor and attack the North and once again blood will flow. I can see no way out. My brother ordered Moat Cain to be resored to protect from invasion and you have done a fine job but the North has no Navy. If we are dragged into a war our coasts will be exposed. I don't see a future that can end with out blood being spilt."

Then you make the most honorable choice. You do that and ride it to the end. The choices of a Lord are never easy. Ramiel decided to attempt to change the subject, something less heavy on the boys heart. He felt as if Anthony was like a son to him, he wished to spare him sorrow.

Now that you are at Moat Cailin, I hope you find it to your liking. We put long hours and sweat into its redemption.

OOC- we are at Moat Cailin. A much improved Moat Cailin thanks to my efforts

He was let in, without guard. Why have a guard? He was dying anyway. Oh Harren, look at how I am now. You told me id need that damn casket soon. How right you were....
Ramiel looked, sadness in his eyes.

Stannis was let in alone as he came. Ramiel wanted his time with any friends he has left was precious, so he wanted to have some time alone with them, before addressing them all at once.
Stannis, forgive me if I am past the courteous ramblings of titles in my current state. If you havent noticed, the titles havent done me any damn good as of yet. he said hacking and coughing

Harren didn't look sad or remorseful. In fact, he looked rather annoyed, as if he expected Ramiel to get back on his feet at any minute.
"Ramiel, stop being ridiculous and get up. Its not your damn fault that idiot Stark got himself killed. The caskets were for wine, and the poetry was me being an irritating fool."
He looked around for Ramiel's scimitar, opening drawers and cupboards at random.
"Being all honorable about nothing. What are you trying to compensate for? If the old Lord Stark had been anything like this one or his predecessor, I might have rebelled too. Now come, we're going to spar."

    Ramiel laughed, hacked and weezed.
Certainly! Let me get up right away! Lets face it Harren, if I could get up you still couldnt best me, not even in the condition im in. He felt a slight measure of joviality when Harren was around.

And stop rummaging! Ive already made plans for my sword...hey....get out of there! Stop! Look Harren, there are many things that I have done, for honor, for the North. I literally lost my Lord, I can not stay alive knowing I failed him. I did not intend for this sickness to take me. It is a part of me Harren. There is something you can do for me however, a last request if you will. I know, I am always asking you to do more than any man could possibly hope for, but I must ask for one more thing.

He grimaced, gazing at Ramiel with pity.

Of course, Ramiel. You are a good man, an honourable man. If there is place where the worthy and good go, you deserve to be there.

Ah yes, a place where the worthy and honorable go.... You know Stannis, once upon a time I thought that place was at the head of men. Leading them, teaching them. Yet I fear those positions are filled less and less with honorable people. My son he, he is much like me, he will serve his Lord well. The realm seems to have a distaste for the North recently... I wish I could remedy that situation before my passing.
Ramiel looked at Stannis in his eyes, We are just old friends talking here, do you believe in the Gods Stannis? Old, new, ha drowned? The red god? Have you knowledge of the red god? It matters not. The point is, do you believe?

"That is what I have a problem with. You are a Dornishman, as far as I'm concerned. The idiot lost himself. I truly wonder, what would you have done, if Maegor had been the king you had served? Honestly, you are killing yourself because of these irrational principles. Your honor and love for the North seem to have blinded you to the fact that Dornishmen such as you and me, aren't very tolerant of the cold. Now, what is this request?"
Harren refused to act grim and miserable, Ramiel was depressing enough for the both of them.

I am nothing without my service Harren. Nothing without my honor. I lost that the day he went missing, and it is lost with him... I ask that you, and through you your prince, keep friendly relations with my son. Dorne and the North will forge a strong bond between the two of you. By trade of otherwise, my son, the North, is going to need a friend. Ramiel said calmly, some of the coughing had subsided.

Ramiel then leaned close to the Dornishman and pulled him close, saying low and softly The land is unsettled, Harren. I can feel it, the wind has been whispering it for months, I've just chosen to ignore it. This is the calm before the Storm I'm afraid, I heard of the comet. What say you of the Dragon family? Will they hold together?

"Kilgore will always have a friend in Dorne. As for the dragons... It looks bleak. Now don't try to get me grim and hopeless, this is the easy way out. Was he some god that you cannot live without him? You were not even supposed to protect him, how could you have? He probably went into the fiery dragon again and ended up in a potato sack somewhere. I'm sure he will turn up somewhere. How will you do your duty if you are dead, if you kill yourself to escape from it? You owe Rickton nothing, but you will have failed Anthony."

He was no god....he was however a Stark. I may not have been in charge of his safety but I should have found something! Harrens last words hit Kilgore hard, he never hoped to disappoint Anthony, but when he returned with nothing....the shame was too much for his body to bare.

My son will watch over Anthony. And my younger son over him. They shall serve well.and no Harren, you cannot truly believe deep down that he simply vanished. Even the basest of men know that is not the case. Not a single GoldCloak seen him leave? Bah! I would love to see anyone, especially if they were as drunk as Rickton was, make it through the Keep unseen. Not even at the exits and entrances. Ramiel said after much effort.
