Need Help with Roma Surrectum 2.5 for Steam

Other threads don't make sense to me

Windows 7
Using Rome Gold
On Steam

Done the process of
-create copy of RTW:Gold
-download + install the mod to that folder
-changed the destination to that folder
^(Do I have to like move the entire copied folder back to the original steam destination?)

activated the launcher as a non-steam game in the game library

try to play using the Rome.exe with a Sparta campaign
-if I click Steam:NO then play it doesn't work as it says "Failed to find Steam"
-if I click Steam:YES when I enter my username it says "problem checking steam application" and crashes
^(should I use Alexander.exe of BI.exe instead?)

I was having a similar problem which was answered in this thread.

Basically, I moved the modified RTW:Gold files into my steam directory, and changed the Steam Rome Total War launch options (See the Norsemans post). After that, launching Rome Total War through steam worked perfectly.
