Default Significance of Choosing Your Capital?

I know of the concept of a centralized location, due to the "distance from capital" factor in order...

But, other than that does it matter? Does being the capital influence trade?

Does it matter if it's a castle or city?

    curious...

The only thing I'm sure is that it affects the corruption, maybe trade too, but other person need to answer this

In 6.4 base mod capitol doesn't do anything except the distance and corruption. Some other mods have the capitol mean more but only BGR V has any special meaning in SS submods far as I know. Historically not many states had a special capitol that meant anything. Constantinople, Venice, Baghdad... maybe some other states had 1 large very important city that symbolized the state but more often capitol was wherever the ruler went.

What does BGR do to the capital? I haven't migrated to BGRV yet but it would be good to know.

It would be a nice addition to add unrest or corruption for a few years after a city moved away it's capital. The only drawback is the $5000 cost but depending on the mods, $5000 is not a lot.

there is one other factor, merchant trade resource is effected by distance to capital as well. further the more money.
1180, an unprecedented period of peace and prosperity in East Asia, it's technology and wealth is the envy of the world. But soon conflict will engulf the entire region with great consequences and lasting effects for centuries to come, not just for this region, but the entire known world, when one man, one people, unites.....

    That's a good point!

I always noticed that the city I chose as my capital tended to have its income increase significantly compared to what it would have been if I'd left it alone.

Yeah I did not notice his question about trade effects but distance to capitol and value of resource and merchant skill completely determine the income.

BGR V has capitol as the only city that HAS to be centrally controlled I believe, all other cities can be given outside the royal family but I might be wrong as I've only played one campaign of BGR V

I find it hard to move my capital to someplace it never historicly was and/or someplace it never logicaly would be. IE... if im English, my capital would always be London, French always Paris. If I am the Byzantines and I extend my empire far west (taking Italy and parts of western Europe), I might move my capital from Constantinople to Rome, but that makes sense you know?

A faction like the Mongols (for example) Id probably feel free to move the capital when/wherever to keep it centralized.

This is mainly all for RP purposes though, which isnt what you were asking... I chimmed in anyway

Well in terms of the Mongols, the Il Khanate capital was always either Tabriz or other near it (or Alamut on the map) aka it's in north western edge of Persia.

The Golden Horde Capital was Sarai, though there was actually two such city, one was around Sarkel on the map and the other one on the Volga Delta.
