Sarah was gardening as the well dressed man approached the main gates, she was quite fond of her flowers. Henry always smiled as he peered through the window watching her garden with joy, the lilly was his favourite flower and every morning one woud be placed upon his desk. Sarah in a shy manner approached the man and greeted him kindly

Evening good Sir, I am Sarah. Can i help you?

Henry was quietly knelt before the alter, it was a private ritual which he preformed daily. Henry could hear the pleas from inside the cathderal and stopped his prayer to meet the eager visitor

de Clare looks over the girl, not bad looking but she looks familiar, finally he says

Yes, Ms. Sarah Burke, you've grown into a lovely lady, you dont know me, but I new your father and uncle and met you when you were very young. Anways, I've come to see Father Burke

OOC: historical blurb Clerical celibacy was somewhat encouraged but didnt catch on in England till the 1500s, your chars a a bit to young to have known Richard in their adult life, so it would make sense for a man who achieved being bishop at 23 to have inherited it

Henry guided the young man toward his office and kindly offered him a seat

Now what interest does the Crown have on church matters?

    He smiled.

I bring some questions, your eminence. Merely formality, of course. But queries nonetheless.

OOC: sorry I didn't see your post

IC: Henry's interest was intrigued, he calmly sat down and awaited the line of questioning

Sarah is the only family I have left, I try my best to provide for her. She is still young but I have begun looking for prospective husbands.

The crusades is an initiative lead by Rome, they wish to secure Jerusalem in the name of Christendom. Any man willing to fight for the holy land shall be granted entrance into the kingdom of heaven and though I must support the church's decision for the crusade I will not damn those whom choose stay within the realm. England itself still needs to deal with its own pagan issues in the north as well as west in wales

I have been considering beginning a holy order within England, what are thine thoughts

I would say I am a bit old for the Lady Sarah. Though I have a vassal Baldaric, a brave warrior, crusader, and a man in his 20s and if he plays his cards right, perhaps a baron. She could do much worse then him.

My view and the kings are one and the same on the issue of Crusade. We are amenable to the idea of it, but there are things to be done, like submit the Welsh and northern Pagans. Perhaps you think we could get church sanction to submit the Welsh Celts and their heathen ways.

Perhaps that what your holy order can be dedicated to achieving, spreading our holy church across these Isles. I would not want to head such an order their, 13 years as a mercenary has made me leery to spend the rest of my youth in privation as a knight monk, for you see I wish to live the good life before I grow old and grey. But I would have no issue supporting them or going on how we say a "mini crusade" against the celts

I wish to inquire about the tithes first... I trust they are all collected in the manner that they should be, your eminence?

They are collected in a manner the church deems appropriate, now my question is what interest does the crown have with the churches tithes?

    He smiled reassuringly.

I had the exact same question from His Grace, the Archbishop. It is formality, do not panic, your eminence. I merely wish to know a madman does not have authority over this Bishopric.

Madman? Art thou implying that God would appoint a madman to lead his church? or that his holy father does not understand the will of God?
