    Default Squalor Problem

Hey, uhm, ok here's the situation:
I'm playing RTW Terrae Expugnandae and it's great and all...but squalor is kicking my butt real bad.
I'm playing as Gaul. I have all of Italy and Western Europe and the North-Eastern part of the Iberian Peninsula, but the cities I started off with are getting ridiculously hard to keep control of. Not only are they well into the negatives money-wise, but its taking a full stack garrison just to keep them from rioting.
Usually in Vanilla I'd just solve this problem by raiding a place, slaughtering the population, and move my population there via peasant units. But there is no peasant units...so what do I do?

It seems that's exactly the thing TE was trying to prevent. Well then you would just have to live with the decreased population. There's not really much else to do unless you can afford more expensive troops.

TE is tough in that respect. You have several options.

    1. Try rebuilding to eliminate cultural penalty.
    2. Give the city to an enemy, then retake next turn. Kill off inhabitants. This can be tough because diplomats often refuse cities as gifts.
    3. IF the city does revolt, kill everyone. Dont just abandon the city, because TE will put a large (and formidable) rebel force in the city when it rebels.
    4. OR, you can try recruiting large cheap units, like velites, then moving them top a nearby province and disbanding them.

You can delay growth of your cities by reducing "Population_Growth" to "0" in the building file.

Doing exactly that, I have virtually no Squalor Problem; however the cities grow very slowly and you should not exterminate newly conquered cities because you need the population to build or re-build your armies.

    I hope, this helps.
