Richard awaits the Archbishop and his coronation. The date is the seventh of August 1100.
Sir William is present.
Carlisle arrived after first paying respect to the late King. He was dressed rather well, a lot better than usual though perhaps a little too sombre for a coronation. As per usual he lurked away from the main gatherings, waiting for the ceremony to begin.
Sir Thomas de Lanquetot arrives at the Coronation of the future King Richard I. It had only been a day after the death of William II Rufus, a mighty and strong King who was still fondly remembered. He, like many, had high hopes for this new man that would sit upon the throne soon.

Shortly after his brothers more esteemed arrival, Christain entered the hall. Dressed in his sunday best he hugged the back wall finding a place to sit.
Did he want to be here? No, though his brother insisted (quite firmly) so here he was, he just hoped this wouldn't take to long, he longed for a round at the tavern.

Father Christopher de Langford travelled down from Durham to attend, sitting with the Lords Spiritual.
The de Clare crew arrives to pay their respects

I'm not from here either, but I hear as long as you stay clear of the riverside taverns, the girls are cleaner Christain whisper back with a snigger.
The Earl of Leicester, Laurent de Beaumont, arrived at the coronation with a small retinue of lower lords. He looked around pretty insecurely, as he knew almost nobody there.

Archbishop Marcelo Ferrington stood up and began to walk first going to the north side and then the south and then east and west side of Westmister abby shouting "Sirs, I here present Richard Archer unto you your undoubted King. Wherefore all you who are come this day to do your homage and service, are you willing to do the same?" As he asked those questions everyone in the room shouted he walked back over to the king and stood in front of him. He smiled at the king as he was about to administer the oath of the Sovereign.
" Sire "Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the Peoples of the Kingdom of Britain, "Will you to your power cause Law and Justice, in Mercy, to be executed in all your judgments?,Will you to the utmost of your power maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel?. And will you preserve unto the Bishops and Clergy of England, and to the Churches there committed to their charge, all such rights and privileges, as by law do or shall appertain to them or any of them?" He asked the King in a loud voice as he waited for the future king to respond to him.
Carlisle rubbed at his ear, the man didn't need to shout so loud. Though perhaps this Richard Archer was hard of hearing because he'd been sitting there doing nothing since the Archbishop had shouted at everyone.
William frowned. Did the king insist on all hearing his bastard name? Wasn't the house of Normandy more appropriate for such an occasion?
So by the lord God and his son the savior Jesus Christ I swear.
Richard's voice is clear and confident.
Archbishop Marcelo Ferrington nodded his head and turned to wave towards his helpers who came to him. He smiled at them and then walked up to the king and with the help of the helpers placed a Canopy over the kings Head. This part of the Ceremony was not seen by the public as it was a private matter. One of his helpers pour the sacred oil into a spoon held by another helper. Then Marcelo beings to anoint the kings hands, Head and heart after that is done, The Archbishop says a prayer and then moves away and gets ready for the next part of the coronation. Another minor bishop steps up and hands the Sword of State to the Sovereign. While that is happening the Archbishiop goes and get the crown jewels in which he will give the king. First he hands the King the Orb which is surrounded with a cross. He then hands the Sovereign receives a ring which stands for Marraige between him and the kingdom. Followed by the scepter with the dove and scepter witht he cross. Finally the crown that the king will wear arrives and the ARchbishiop smiles as the places the crown on top of the Kings head. He then turns to face the crowd and smiles.
" God Save the King !, God Save the King !. God Save the King " He shouts three times as he looks at everyone in the crowd. before finally turning around to face the king and raising his hand " I Marcelo Ferrington Archbishiop of Canterbury will be faithful and true, and faith and truth will bear unto you, our Sovereign Lord King of this Realm and Defender of the Faith, and unto your heirs and successors according to law. So help me God." He then turns to face the peers and nobles and the other Bishops and asked each of them to come up and take a oath to the King and the crown.
