Windows 8 problems

Greetings!

I installed Win8 yesterday and since then I've had lot's of problems whit Shogun2. (Before Win8 I'd Vista)

So the main problem is that when I've played shogun about 5-15min it freezes and stops working.

Hopefully someone can help me with this problem. Thanks already!

Did you also install the latest drivers from Acer's website for Win 8?
Why 32bit instead of 64bit?

Hi thanks for quick response. I've not installed the latest drivers from Acer's website because there is no drivers for 7730G (win8).

I've to say that I made a mistake by using "Windows 8 - Upgradeassistant". The program said that all devices are compatible for win8 so then I tought it's time to get rid off from Vista finally. Well I bought win8-pro by using upgradeassistant and tought that when I'll be installing windows I can choose between 32-bit and 64-bit. Well it turned out that there were no actualy possibility to choose between those and now I've 32-bit OS instead of 64-bit. And if that wasen't bad enaught when I was checking drivers from Acer's site all drivers were for Vista or win7. Well then I've downloaded drivers from parts manufacturers sites. (Example nvidia drivers from nvidia site).

Well then I tried several different games and everything seemed ok, but then as my worst nightmare came those problems whit Shogun2. : /

I remember some when Win 7 was released had to go back to Vista because they could not upgrade the motherboard drivers.
Try these and see what happens.
www.intel.com and hope I am guessing right. They do have a nice scanner at the top of their driver page.
www.realtek.com.tw for the latest High Definition Audio codecs. Those you have were released with Win 7 in 2009.

Thanks for help again! It actualy helped my another problem. Shogun don't anymore crash and say "Shogun 2 has stopped working" in battle.

I've also discovered that those freezing problems come when I'm trying to play multiplayer battle. It happens everytime when I found opponent in matchmade battle. (So when message "Opponent found arraging battle.." arrives it freezes completly and I've to shut the program down from taskmasger or alt + f4.

That would be your internet connection. Is your end updated to Win 8?

The last problem is solved also. It was actualy an easy problem to solve. For somereason firewall didin't check the public also when it asked that if I wan't to allow the shogun2 get through. Shame on me because of this problem. Anyway cheers and thank you for help!

Heh should have guess that it was too early to rejoice. I still have freezing problem but now it seems to have moved to the battle setup stage. So this time I can get over "opponent found arraging battle" but then in battle setup where armies are made it freezes. I've twice managed to get in actual battle between this and last message so this problem is puzzling me.

Well after a few weeks I'm getting a bit desperate here. The problem in multiplayer occurs most often when I'm at setup stage and press "veterans" tab. After that the game instantly freezes. (Then I've to kill the game from task manager.)

MUltiplayer, still sounds internet connection.
Singleplayer, possibly drivers.

If you expect CA to come up with a Win 8 patch, I have a feeling you can wait in line those still waiting for a patch Medieval1 and Nvidia's 8xxx and newer cards.

Thanks for answer. I've found out that I can play "classic battles" mode in battle list without problems. Freezing problems only comes out when I'm at matchmade battle or in battle list whit avatar. (The game freezes either in "opponent found arraging battle.." stage or if it passes that one it freezes when in batte setup when I press veterans tab.)

It could be a hang up in the multiplayer code or maybe still a Win 8 driver.

Ok I've made more tests and it seems to be that this problem only applies whit Shogun avatars. (Old one and I made a new one for tests.) My fots avatar works correctly. So it seems to be that this problem is narrowed to Shogun avatar in win8.

I wonder how much of it is Steam cloud involvement, then.

Not sure. I've made verify integrity of game cahche in steam couple times, but it didin't found any problems.
