Default Holy Crap - The Plague!

want a good laugh at my expense?

well, i moved FOUR of my german generals to a patavadium to "upgrade" their armor.

when i hit end turn, the plague came to the city.
all of them have come down with the plague.
i now have no generals in the region without the clap, i mean plague.

since Patavadium has no sewers and I cannot build sewers as German,
i have decided to conquer the nearest Roman city with sewers in hope of
    making them healthy again.

    got a better strategy?

Just wait till the plague subsides. If you move them to another city they'll spread the plague.

On the upside, train a spy in that city, let him catch the plague and move him to enemy cities. Biological warfare. =D

Dont move units in or out of the city. Doing so will reset the timer on the time it takes to eliminate the plague. Armies, agents, Ships can all carry the plague..and can all heal without needing sewers etc.

It may reset a timer, but my experience has been if I move a family member out of a plague infected settlement as soon as its announced (same game turn) I can avoid them getting the plague. A question for the original poster, did you let them stay in the settlement a turn or two after the plague annoncement then move them, or did you move them immediately?

Moving them immediately out of the settlement seems to work for me every time, and I'd rather the plague last longer in the ungoverned settlement and save a general/govenor then let them rot with the general populace. To be safe I generally move them (family members) to smaller undeveloped settlement nearby at first, then if the plague isn't announce as having hit those after a turn or two there I move them to the closest (non-infected) large/huge city.

Move your generals out of the city and build a fort. Put them in it and leave them there until thye get better. Simple. In theory.

Yes, passing the plague onto my enemies (or just neighbours) sometimes 'brightens up my day'. I've used it a number of times. Even if you have all the sewers etc. built your settlements can still get the plague. I think the 'healthy' buildings mean that the plague doesn't last as long.
