I'm currently playing as Isengard and saw the pop up saying Ring has been found in Hobbiton.
Since I was attacking Eriador/High Elf and was allied with Rohan and Gondor (before you judge me, Isengard was allied with everyone until year 3017, and my campaign has not even reached year 3000), I thought I'd retrieve the One Ring because I've never seen AI Mordor get One Ring and wanted to see what happens.
I took Hobbiton quite easily and had a general secure the Ring, then I started to march him toward Black Gate immediately. Couple turns later a popup said I got 20 turns to reteurn the One Ring, and I thought I would make it since Rohan/Gondor wouldn't stop me so all I had to do was move a single general across.
Even though I've even moved very carefully so my Ring Carrier wouldn't be ZOCed, I ended on Black Gate on the 19th turn and thought it was kind of a close one..... but next turn a popup saying I have failed the deliver the Ring to Sauron AND a popup saying Sauron had regained the one ring at the same time.
Thankfully I'ved saved before I got the One Ring just incase I didn't make it, but that is about 30 turns ago..... so I must either go back 30 turns to be at war with every evil faction, (probably) face endless invasion stacks and eventually fight Sauron.
So I got curious and looked at the Ring Script, and Hobbiton, Imladris, Minas Tirith, Edoras, Dol Amroth, Helm's Deep, Bree, Thranduil's Hall, Dale, Erebor, Mithlond, Caras Galadhon, and Throin's Hall are possible locations for One Ring to be discovered as an evil faction and based on my experience I do not think you would be able to deliver the Ring in time unless it shows up at Helm's Deep, Edoras or Minas Tirith.
So.... what do you guys do with One Ring when playing as Evil Faction?
Is there a trick to delivering it on time or do you just ignore it?
